Friend of mine locked h'bars with Nixon while riding a 51 Harley K and got tossed off the track. He went through the crowd on the side then hit the middle of a picnic spread! Ha! He said the couple had a big bowl of potato salad that he cut in half and tossed as he went thru (no brakes) then had to lay it down in the grass! Ha! Wish they had filmed that!
Bought a new BSA B 50MX in 1973 from Robert M. Law Motorcycles in Anaheim California, it was the last year the bike had the BSA name. In 1974 it was called a Triumph Avenger. It was a good desert and woods bike......wish I still had it.
I LOVE MY LIL BEEZE!!! THE LIL LIGHTNING STILL HAULS ASS!!!!! COOL STUFF MAN THANKS FOR SHARING IT WITH US ALL!!!!! MINES ALOT DIFFERENT THO WITH THE HARD TAIL,MOLDED TANK,45 SPRINGER,AND LIL HARD SHOEI BAGS!! SHE GETS ALOT OF ATTENTION WHEREVER I TAKE HER!!!!!
Remember the San Jose mile and Ascot Park Half mile. Damn I miss flat track on friday nite. Does any one remember Alex Jorgensen when he rode a Norton Twin.
i ride speedway (jnrs ) and i remember watching a bit of these with me old man at the longtrack ... i think it was these neways ... why do they put there hand down on the engine ???
my old man used to take me to the santa clara county fairgrounds where we'd watch rice, mann, aldana and many other of these guys that i thought were larger than life -don castro, sonny jurganson, gene romero etc.
the san jose mile was the biggest event in flat track and it happened in our back yard.
Grew up on the Central Coast. Remember the horse track in Salinas, that was CRAZY NARROW, had A big get off there. Salinas airport(scrambles) Monterey Co short track,Hollister, and The San Jose Mile!! Been There Done That GREAT MEMORIES!! I think???
Birmingham Small Arms. Beautiful all the way. I still ride my little '69 Victor.

This post brings back memorys..You know how to scerw up a guy's head. Don't forget Gary Rice, Yavon Duhamal,Malcom Smith too!
keefer2111 3 years ago
Keefer, that would be either Gary Nixon or Jim Rice, although if you put those two together and made Gary Rice, he would be a helluva rider.

They're not putting their hand on the engine. They're holding onto the fork. Lets you tuck in tighter and steadies the fork on the straights.
