@38azn since vietnam war our population had been decrease so much,,the goverment say that but i see alot of vietnamese have 4 to 5 kids especailly people who live in the country side they are so levorish, worst the then montagnard people,,
@EDEBOYZ we are less then the vietnamese, in pleiku there are more viets then mtd people, theres about over 60 millions vietnamese in vietnam and another 1.5 million in the US
We can have ten millions of our people. But if also have ten millions goals there is not much different now. VN under-counted our people. I know we are more than what they say we are. We need to teach our younger generation about what happened to us, and look for the future with strong hope that one day we will have our place we can call MY COUNTRY./.
Singa Ih? I believe if and when our people have same goal, know what we really want for our people, then we will a stronger voice. There are people much less than us yet they have strong voice to speak for their people. As a result, they have their self govern; people such as, MIZORAM in India, Eat Timor, in Indonesia, Inuit people in Greenland just to name a few. Let ask each of us what we're really want to have. Why we are what we are???
we use to number in the millions but now we number only in the hundreds of thousand.. fk those commis....so what well happen to my people in 10...20 ..50 years from now...are we destined to die out
The only thing i can imagine that would undoubtedly in the long run make a change to the root of our social problem is to favor development of friendships between our people, especially the young who are still innocent from their elders' prejudice and who's minds are still perceptive. I don't know, something concrete like we exchange students into foster families of each side disposed to accept those exchanges for a certain time, and have them go to school. Small things like that go a long way.
From my assumption that this is fundamentally a problem of racial discrimination, i think you need to raise awareness and sympathy from kinh back in vietnam and not oversea vietnamese who may support your cause as political opportunism and scramble the true and legitimale demand for the respect of your rights. On top of that, we can do nothing from oversea. How we need to work to raise awareness and promote reconciliation over this sad situation with the people back home, i don't know.
Baov, yes we agree and all we ask for respect of basic human rights. However the communist govt in Vietnan uses the 'overthrowing government" allegations as a justification for repression. As you know the ruling Hanoi regime are well practiced in cruel and devious propaganda. Also Kok Ksor has clarified the Montagnard position on his website and also Hanoi's allegations were rejected by the UN in 2004. Degar & Kinh people need to unite to bring true freedom to Vietnam for all the people there.
@ScottJohnsonMFI lol overthrow????? there is about one million montagnard with no weapons versus 80 million+with 100,000+ armed officers and soldiers. What a sad excuse of a lie,
I'm viet and i do not condone any of this, especially the forced sterilization which i find absolutly terrible. I'm young and i've grown up for the most part oversea, so i haven't been exposed to the cultural prejudiced attitude against montagnards, but i do know it exists. The persecution today is indeed partly political, but i don't think overthrowing the communist government in vietnam will solve your problems, as there seems to be tensions between us dating from a lot farther.
My heart goes out to you brothers. Eventhough I'm not Montagnards, my pain is with you. I am a Hmong American & we also go through the same problems back in our parents home land, Laos. We fought under CIA, so-called Secret war. It was so secret that no one in America knows that it was part of the Vietnam War. I say the next time you go protest, ask us Hmong brothers for help. We all work together to bring this to an end. See Hmong genocide on youtubes. Free the Hmongs & Montagnards!!
Yes, the Vietnamese communist government is one of the most repressive in Asia. The regime in Hanoi is a one party state that striclty free press. See Montagnard Foundation website for updates on the brutal nature of this government. Torture, beatings and corruption are the rewards Vietnam bestows on its citizens.
I feel very sorry for the Degar, I'm Khmer(Cambodian), and we also have natives tribes in Cambodia struggling. Degar look like Khmer and when I hear a Degar language I keep thinkin its Khmer. Afterall Khmer originate from common ancestor. Sorry for Khmer police brutality. They not just beat Degar refugee but their own ppl as well. Alot of corruption in Cambodia. Khmer in Vietnam also struggle since Vietnam took Degar lands and Khmer lands, plus Cham lands.
It is so sad I know half of those people in that video. A lot of people don't know about us because our number of people are so small. Some are very fortunate to get out and some aren't very fortunate.
dammit...this communist party stuff shu dbe overthrown...look wat is happening to the montagnard of vietnam and the Hmong of Laos..pure torture n murder
In responce to your comments, Thank you. Yes the victims here all recently suffered torture by the communist regime in Hanoi. There are many more inside Vietnam but Hanoi keeps tight control of the press. Even though Hanoi is moving to capitalism the authoritarian govt is trying to retain authortiarian control. The sooner the old communists die the better things will be in Vietnam and the country will be able to modernize as a trully free country.
Thank you for this video. I am a Viet American who opposes the Viet Communist government's human rights violations in Vietnam against the Thuong ("Montagnard") as well as the Kinh (lowlander Viet) people. I think it would be less confusing for the public if the Montagnard Foundation clarifies that it is the Viet Communists who are committing all these crimes against humanity.
But weren't all the victims the ones involved in the protest I believe in 2004? They fled to places such as Cambodia, Thailand and awaits for the UN to refuge them. But some were unlucky and were sent back, especially by Cambodian police because they work with communist Vietnam. It's really sad with all the stories you'd hear from those who were fortunate enough to land safely in a foreign land.
Yes, many of the victims are result of the crackdown by the Vietnamese communist regime (protests in 2001 and 2004) However, Vietnam continues persecution thorughout the central highlands today.
I'm an MTD as well and MTD is just an abbreviation, not another word. It's a minority group in Vietnam so therefore it's unknown and is very few in the US. You'll find most in Greensboro, NC where there are only about 1,000. The rest are scattered mainly in Charlotte or Raleigh. A few are in Asheboro, but those are the only 4 cities you might find one.
YEAH our people are all over USA. We have some in Charleston, South Carolina too, more in Houston, TX; a lot more in California: Sacramento, Los Angeles, Riverside. Our people also in Virginia too,Iowa, Wyoming, etc.... And most of these people came to USA before saigon fell to comies in April 1975./.
