  • when i play this scale on a guitar it seems like it starts in A sharp. is that right or whats the go?

  • trumpets are Bb instruments. It's like, the "open" key of a guitar is C (or arguably G), the "open" key of a trumpet is Bb. To make it easy for trumpet players reading music, the music is just transcribed a whole step higher (making it look like it's in C) so the trumpet player isn't constantly reading accidentals is common keys like C, G, A, and D

  • @brees4music not a sharp, b flat. trumpet is tuned in Bb which means when you play a C scale it sounds a whole step lower (Bb).

for playing an actual C major scale you have to play a D major (f# and C#) scale on the trumpet so it sounds like C major

french horn is tuned in F, alto sax in Eb, tenor sax in Bb, there are flutes in G... and all that means when you play a note with fingering of a C it sounds like the one the instrument is tuned in..

  • if you wanna learn trumpet, check out my website allabouttrumpet (dot) yolasite (dot) com

  • Just knowing the fingerings of a scale isn't all that useful. It helps you pass the required band tests but does little to contribute to your ability. You really need to know what the scale means and how it defines a key in order to be a useful exercise. Then it's VERY useful.

  • @eTrumpetLessons: Um, your name is eTrumpetLessons. You saying something disparaging here is like ronald mcdonald going to wendys and saying he doesn't care for the fries. You have to think there's a bit of a bias involved. It's not that I doubt you have a valid point. It's just that your point can't be taken on surface level trust.

  • Why the awkward introduction from red shirt. He is just there... staring... the entire time.

  • Im in 4th grade and i start band next year and these are my choices. Flute, trombone, and trumpet. Which should I play?
