To conclude from this that all's well in Lebanon is a bit simplistic. The country is obviously not free and is under occupation of a terrorist organization called Hezbollah. Lebanon was the only Arab League member to publicly swear allegiance to the Assad regime - hardly a sign of free thinking and speech.

You're insane. Israel has targeted civilains and civilian infrastructure dozens of times. Who bombed the beirut airport? Israel. Who bombed the housing complexes and apartments in south lebanon? Israel. Who bombed the hospitals and the UN relief warehouse in gaza? Israel. And last time I checked it was israel who is illegally occupying the Shebaa farms in the south of lebanon.

What I like about hezbullah is that so far they are secular and nationalistic. There religion comes second. i hope it stays that way. lebanon is a very open country - more than Israel for sure - and more democratic. I respect this group - and they are very different than the group in Iran.  It really is a shame that the people of the U.S. (and I was born here) have not taken the time to understand the issues facing this region. They only follow our media and gov't.

They are not like Hezbullah in Iran. You must do research. As a matter of fact, the Lebanese army is made up of lebanese troops from all religions within Lebanon. It has become very diverse. Israel IS the cause of all this, with a full US support. Lebanon will never be a military client like Egypt or Jordan.
