An interesting concept, but at the end of the day, they know they are in no real danger. The "gangs" are not real gangs, ect. By removing the very need for safety, you alter the very concept. I'm not saying put anybody in danger. But I am saying this will not realistically reflect what will/could happen in such an event. This is really not much more than actors pretending. I liked it better when they called it The Book Of Eli.

This show would be better if the looters were NOT sent in on purpose to interfere...let these people run around and do what it takes to survive. Weapons would be a real part of survival; therefore looters would be less inclined to bully the "lab rats". They hire the biggest, baddest dudes to muscle the wimpy colonists and no weapons are allowed...makes for lame as wrestling tv.
This show is fake as hell. Anyone with half a brain can figure out that everything is scripted and staged. Nothing is legit, they are all essentially playing parts, loosely following a script ad lib style. It's appalling.

@scar504 The Colony is a great show in that it breaks away from the tiring load of repetitive crap known as reality TV. And yeah they take it a bit too seriously, but after 40 days of starving and having to work all day, and having to roleplay, and missing your family, and making sure that no one takes your food -is- going to have an effect on your mindset.
There is really no good TV on these days, but at least there's some that are unique instead of Jeopardy with a paint job and new rule book.

Oh man I wish there would be a former navy seal or a green beret there.. a professional would really be a great help in violent situations or misunderstanding instances. haha. you know it's a television show, so yes they cant have a bunch of gun like there would be in real life, yes the producers present situation to the colonist, it even says the colonist recieve off camra support when they need it. they have preset items before they reach the colony but the idea is to see what the colony is capible of doing with limited resources in a set amount of time. i personally like this show,

This show would be better if the looters were NOT sent in on purpose to interfere...let these people run around and do what it takes to survive. Weapons would be a real part of survival; therefore looters would be less inclined to bully the "lab rats". They hire the biggest, baddest dudes to muscle the wimpy colonists and no weapons are allowed...makes for lame as wrestling tv.

@scar504 The Colony is a great show in that it breaks away from the tiring load of repetitive crap known as reality TV. And yeah they take it a bit too seriously, but after 40 days of starving and having to work all day, and having to roleplay, and missing your family, and making sure that no one takes your food -is- going to have an effect on your mindset.
There is really no good TV on these days, but at least there's some that are unique instead of Jeopardy with a paint job and new rule book.

@unclesonnyonutube Yeah, I think in season 1, they held up a lot better. They are kind of wusses when it comes to finding food. I'd of used more in that creek than a fishing pole. If they could make that windmill they could have made something to catch fish better than the fishing pole. That is until the creek got poisoned.
