Que va el centro tiene su encanto, claro no para ir todos los dias pero hay que mostrar toda la ciudad no solo el poblado, la 33 el lleras , envigado y demas. Of course you hear more about the shootings in American campuses because media coverage here in the States is titannical, but TRUST ME when I tell you that the murder rate of Colombia is WAY higher than that of the US (maybe six or seven times as much). You should be glad, though, because both are decreasing. Both have been almost cut by half in two decades, which should make both Americans and Colombians proud.

It'd be inaccurate to say that Medellin is safer than NYC, because NYC is ongoing a transformation as well and now it's safer than most big cities in the world, but there are some American cities that are more dangerous than Medellin, e.g., Detroit, Saint Louis, or Oakland. Medellin's transformation is fantastic, now it's a great place.
