This is exactly why you need a permit in California to own a Capybara. You have people that want to put these animals in cutesy videos and cutesy outfits and show it to the world. They are animals for godsakes and belong in a habitat where they can live in peace either in the wild or captivity If this Capybara falls into this Chlorine pool I can just imagine what could happen. It's a form of animal cruelty actually.

@guitarherofreak360 Actually I was looking for answers to this questions after I posted this and found out from someone that sells capybaras that Florida is the perfect place to be to own one, their class III animals according to the FWC and you need a Class 3 license to own one but they are legal its just you wont find any breeders in Fl believe me i tried i googled it and went searched the millions of results and nothing you'll have to have them shipped to your closes airport, thats all i know

That would be the most awesome pet ! Just think, Its way better then a dog for house hold security. He'd scare the crap out of bad guys , because they wouldn't know what he is . and he's cute and gentle. The only have like 4 sharp teeth and those are at the very front of its mouth, so he'd be safer then a dog around kids and stuff. And they don't bark really loudly at everything . Perfect medium sized pet

cabibara live in rain forests which usually have a lot of lake/swamps. cabibara are able to swim under water for that long without drowning like a guinea pig beacause they seem to be relating to hippos! .......i think he is cute...that is all

@blackbeast1998 correct. They live in densely forested areas near bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers, swamps, ponds and marshes, as well as flooded savannah and along rivers in tropical forest. This swimming pool is a bit deep for its' comfort, but it can swim alright.

Only the statement about being related to hippos is not correct. The have the same type of habitat, but are not of the same order (hippo=Artiodactyla, capybara=Rodentia).

They are called Capybara and are a type of rodent. I think I read somewhere they are closer related to guiney pigs though :D

The are from South America if you want one look for an exotic breeder in Australia and they can give you the info to buy one. Capybaras must have a large flat that is half as big as a bathtub in the house to pee and poo in they do their bathroom business in water.
