Animal cruelty. and the results .. ? cure ? no. "scientific" chatter and funds ..and ?? nothing . its all a game of false hopes and human stupidity, because the understanding of the fact of nerves etc does not have to be in such Mengelish manner
anyone who is opposed to this, then you guys better NEVER USE the fruits of these kinds of bench research. And believe me, much of what we know today is from animal research. don't be hypocrites. Talk is cheap.
Alice Walker Said it perfectly: "The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for whites or women for men."
Shut the fuck up vegan, in the Bible it says that animals were put here for us and think about how much more pain deer go through getting hit by a car, that's what happens when there's to many of them, would you get pissed if I said I was gonna eat a coyote, well who gives a fuck because that's one less coyote that would of gone after a little kid.
I say, expand neural research like this. How many stray are out there. We euthanize so many of these animals. Let them do some good. I love my cat, and i love my mother's cat, and I had a cat for 20 YEARS before my current cat. I do love cats, but I also love progress,of both medicine and knowledge. Why kill all these strays when we can let them do some good before they die!
This kind of research is key in helping us to find a cure for the sufferers of visual agnosia, amongst other visual deficits, to improve their quality of life. Those who criticise the use of anesthetized cats in this vital research field should think twice - the benefits to our wellbeing are immense. In fact half of the comments below could not have been if animals were not used in research to enhance our medicinal understanding and protect us from infectious diseases.
To all you saying this is cruel, I hope to God you're vegans. This cat is serving a much more useful purpose than all those animals you've eaten to fill your selfish stomachs.
Good video. Classic experiment in sensation & perception and an excellent example of perception being driven by a feature construction process. Too bad so many cats had to die :(
The only way this sort of thing could be justifiable is if the cat or other animal could give consent. If this is justifiable, it is also justifiable to experiment on an infant or disabled person. I think we should experiment on pedophiles and serial killers, someone who has a massive debt to pay to society instead of an innocent animal who's only mistake was being born. Some people go around stealing pets to sell to labs. This cat could be someone's beloved pet.
@PinkPunkyKat What bullshit. All experimental animals used in labs are bred for that purpose. No-one's pets are stolen for experiments. The animal is asleep (anaesthetised) and doesn't feel any pain. This is no worse than breeding animals to eat.
if not, they should be. If we can anesthetically experiment on a cat, we can do the same for humans, unless there is a logical reason "skull too thick...etc.."
@grimslider75 You may not agree, but the majority of people feel that it is unethical to perform these experiments on humans, but ethically permissible to perform on cats and other animals, given the gain in knowledge. Technically there is no reason why the same experiments cannot be performed on humans, but ethically most people agree there is a difference. As I said, you may not agree, but scientists have to justify every animal experiment to an ethical panel.
No-one should be allowed access to animals if this is their intention lol fucking weirdos yeah we're so clever we found out we're torturing an animal dicks
really informative and interesting

There's no "torture" here. That cat is anesthetized, and doesn't wake up. Animal shelters do the same to millions of unwanted animals every year.
