Actually you demonstrate here why, all moral issues aside, torture is a daft and counterproductive tactic. A torture victim, even if he himself *were*to be emotionally broken--itself not a done deal--almost surely creates new enemies for the torturer amongst his friends and family, at the very least. The fact of torture, in fact, lessens the legitimacy of that government's ability to claim legitimacy among at least some share of its own citizens.
