Actually it wasn't really a variant of the T-6 it was a 'an earlier relative' being a sort of hybrid between the earlier BC-1 and the T-6 hence the fabric covered fuselage and flying controls.The RAAF used them as trainers, dive bombers, fighters (if you can believe that) and one actually shot down a Japanese fighter (often described as a Zero but more likely a 'Tony'. There were lots of other small differences some being that the Wirra was usually armed (3 machine guns -2 nose and one rear)
