  • Not realistic, but to be fair, I have seen turn 1, Dark Ritual, Entomb an Iona, Exhume Iona... you can't play your color... Stupid hands like that are possible, but that hand just required 1 ritual, 1 swamp, 1 entomb and 1 exhume in the opening hand.

  • Then your opponent removes two simian spirit guides from his/her hand, casts a manamorphose and smacks your phage with a turn to mist. :O

  • this is one of the most useless combo created... Phage is good to be used in UB Control decks. with 4 Dark Ritual you can do really more interesting stuff

    While, yes, it works, the chances of having 4 Dark Rituals is low enough, even less having 3 other specific cards.

    I don't consider having an opening hand of 4 Dark Rituals as a combo. It's called either a miracle, or just too much luck, or you managed to cheat.

  • Ehhh...percentage of getting 4 Dark Rit in your hand turn 1 = less than 5% chance. You have fun with that.

  • @who8mahbacon and it would be a 1/1946482876800chance you'd get that hand on the first turn, that's a .00000000005137% chance. So i guess if you played 1946482876800 games with that deck you'd pull this combo off once.

  • the deck is cool but how do you get that first end its possible but the deck its not made of 7 cards if you dont have that first hand you can lose the game whats the probability o have that 7 cards in your hand? make a deck with that cards and with some cards to get more cards vause if you dont have that first hand you will die i think does cards are good but its almost impossible to have them at the first seven cards you draw. unless you cheat and magic loses all fun if you cheat.

  • I had a deck like this once. And it only worked once but it was a little more fun. Anyway, worked kind of the same but I won on turn two. My opening hand was:

    2x Swamp

    3x Dark Rit

    1x Damnation

    1x Cruel Edict

    I went second and top decked a Phage. Played her. He dropped a pro-black creature. But I played Cruel Edict and made him sac it.

    But like I said, it worked only once, I played the deck about 50+ times lol

  • @MasterChief117xxxx Force of will is the greatest card ever. If phage was countered that'd be a 7 hit mana burn on the first turn.

  • Why the mana burn? Does it not count as used an Phage? The mana is spend on phage and THEN she will be destroyed, if the mana was not spend on her, then how could she come in play to be destroyed by will of force?

  • no because you can't play creature spells on an opponents turn unless you have a card that lets you play them as an instant. like dramatic entrance, otherwise yeah, you could play the dark rituals on their turn and get 9 mana, but you wouldn't be able to play phage.. and you expecially wouldn't be able to attack with him.

    itsa good combo, but the chances of it happening are pretty much 0.

    and it can only be done on turn 1.

  • i say it might cost more but put more dark rituals and more untouchable and greaves and maybe more swamps better chance of pick up.

  • one counterspell and show is over... too expensive cast cost that prob would be countered and then you have used all dark ritual... not that good of a combo...

  • That Combo won't work.

    Phage's ability states "Whenever Phage deals combat damage to a creature, destroy that creature. It can't be regenerated."

    To put it simply, a player is not a "creature", therefore the ability is void when phage damages a player.

  • haha, i remember one game, one of my friends played hymm to tourach(sp) on one of my other friend and it happened to be phage. Next turn, he used exhume and the player was forced to play phage from the graveyard not in his hand thus dieing. lol

  • Well if you consider this Combo posible then you can still do it easier with an oppening hand of 1 Mountain, 1 Raging Goblin, 2 Blazing Shoal, and 2 Myojin of Infinite Rage which used to be t2 and is now extended

  • sorry, but this isn't so good, there are so many autowins on turn one.

  • Cough Cough Counterspell or a nice Swords to plowshares... come on the likleyhood of this combo going off on your first turn is retarted unless you stack your deck but that is frowned upon in most matches. Have your friend shuffle your Phage combo deck before you play and see how the consistency with the one turn win works after that. I bet you get that hand once every 1,000,000 shuffles..... Try a Orim's Chant on a Isochron Scepter that is possible on a turn 1

  • Cept if you play Pact of Negation round one, you won't be able to pay it's upkeep cost for 3, and you'll lose the game.

    Also, this build depends on YOUR first turn, that means you'll have to play pact to use it, otherwise you won't have enough mana to play it.

  • Yes, please play Pact of Negation on his first turn. Do it on the first Dark Ritual to prevent him from even going off! Brilliant!

  • You are never getting this combo, it needs a perfect hand to work, for the deck to work you would have to go vintage with lotus, moxen etc ... and tutors but then again in vintage you just get FOW'ed evrey time . . .

  • Dude- Calm down. The Phague combo is valid. You wont get it on turn one but it could come out turn 3-4 or later on when you need it. I managed to do a 2 turn kill with the force of nature in the semi-finals sanctioned tourney. People could not believe it. I had 3 judges on my table. Miracles do happen if you believe..

  • The Grab the Reins won't work because it is Grab the Reins that's doing the damage, not phage.

    Choose one - Until end of turn, you gain control of target creature and it gains haste; or sacrifice a creature, "then Grab the Reins deals damage equal to that creature's power to target creature or player."

  • Nice combo, but unrealistic. There are many good combos involving Phage and other cards, but you will basically never kill somebody using phage on the first turn. I like clearing the field with Damnation one turn, and on my next turn playing Phage and Mass Hysteria, giving phage haste, and then attacking. Also its fun to play Phage just so your opponent wont attack, and on your next turn use Grab the Reins and sacrifice Phage dealing 4 damage to your opponent making them lose the game.
