i might be really mis informed but last time i checked one of the major differences between serato and all the other dj software/hardware is that serato doesnt have efx.

serato scratch live is a software. theres no difference from sl1 to sl3 its the same software the only change is the rane hardware. You can download the latest ssl for free off their website, it has effects.
