what a god awful situation to be in... taking a cousin to the insane asylum... "when people are to good in this world, they have to be put under lock and key. there is something wrong with people who are to good..." oh god. the end of this clip brings tears to my eyes.... im not an old man either. not a middle aged man. straight out of high school. this clip just tears your heart out... "even a puppy knows when it is being taken to a pond to be drown..."
Hes life. Life this mysterious yet beautiful. Yet completely and utterly fucked and disgusting. Yet there is always light somewhere. Bursts of beauty through all the monotony and agony. Always something worth living for that shines brighter than any dark moment. Read his analysis of Van Goghs letters in Plexus. My other favorite part of a Henry Miller book besides this one
Just read the third or fourth day of spring for the first time. One of the more inspiring messages Ive read as a 23 year old confused American. "You have the dream for nighttime and the horse laugh for daytime." The part where he describes his genitals as the Holy Trinity is also gold!
Хенри дивни Милер, сигурно би био против Медлин Олбрајт, Клинтона и Нато-а, као и против душмана Србије... један од највећих писаца западне цивилизације.
Henry Miller!

Beautiful and soulful —you don't get that in 'famous' writers any more.

This beautiful, but very very sad! Miller had a heart of Gold, really he did!

Miller was one of the greatest writers of the 20th Century, or maybe even the greatest. At the moment I can't think of anyone better.

This is from "The Tailor Shop" a short story in "Black Spring". If you read nothing else by Miller, read "The Tailor Shop".

@jab3785 I prefer the 14th Ward and The 3rd or 4th Day of Spring, but this is up there. All of Black Spring.

Henry Valentine Miller in 1976, according to Norman Mailer, was: "The World's Greatest Living American Writer."
