Another option for the real machines is the xm1541 adapter which I have. I have a video demonstration on how to use it. The only catch is you must have a real commodore disk drive.
A year on and no comments, with over 3,000 views? This is a great looking clone, I don't know if I ever played the real arcade game, but this certainly looks close. More musical and with better graphics than the Atari VCS version, a contemporary of the VIC. I just downloaded the zip file - it's 12KB - and it contains a D64 disk image. I haven't installed a VIC emulator yet, but I'd guess this would require 16KB expansion on a real VIC.
I'm no expert on Frogger, I'm not sure if I ever played it in the arcades, but this certainly looks faithful. What else has the programmer created, as I'm afraid I haven't heard of him?
outstanding! Except I can't understand why they put "for he's a jolly good fellow" in it, since it's not in the original arcade version... I guess it's just to mix it up a little?
You'd have to be pretty familiar with the Vic 20's capabilities and limitations to truly appreciate the accomplishment this game represents.
Of course, if it'd been me, I'd have finetuned the music and sound effects to match the key of the original. Music was what I mostly did on the Vic 20 back in the day.
That's INCREDIBLE! That's certainly pushing the humble Vic-20 to its limits. I don't remember seeing any commercial game looking (and sounding) this good. Smooth graphics too. I didn't know multi-coloured sprites could be done on the vic. Clever programming that's for sure. The colours on the vic were always so much brighter than the more sophisticated C64. Great post - Thank you.
I'm pretty sure i had frogger on a cartridge for my Vic 20, didn't look as colourful as this one though.

Are you using VICE?

Impressive. The music is awesome considering the sound chip in the Vic wasn't that great.

How are you playing that? Emulator or real???

@gjc82071 At the time of the video, this was done on the VICE emulator that I have used to check out this excellent homebrew version of Frogger '07.
Thanks so much for asking, though. ;)

This game looks great on the Vic 20.
The programmer must of put a lot of heart into this game.

Very cool... is this rom available for download? Sold as a cart or tape?

Not bad game. I've got this game on for C=16 but it's called "Hop It". Perhaps it's made by "Tynesoft".
