I was in a car accident 6 months ago and it was totalled. After I got my insurance money I walked into a ford dealer and bought a 2011 F150. Sooooooo much better. My dad has a 2010 fusion awd sport and it exceeds audi in every comparison. Far more luxurious.
i love how they call it ecoboost cause they slapped twin turbos on it.. turbos spool from exhaust gases and that's how its always been, no reason to slap a fancy name on it.. just say it's turbo charged ford, a lot more appealing.

@sokodad GranD Nationals maxed out at 245 hp their last year (1987). They ran low 14's stock. The GNX (only 547 were built) made 276hp and ran mid 13's stock.
So...when comparing the Grand National to the 365 hp/350 ft. lbs EcoBoost V6 in the SHO....I'd HARDLY say that it would "eat it alive". The SHO is a mid-13 sec 1/4 mile car.....Grand National....low 14's. Maybe it's the SHO that's doing the eating?
And before you get all stupid...i'm comparing stock to stock. Anything can be modded.

Smaller, turbo'd engines are the way forward, been like that for a while in Europe, with our high fuel prices and kinda crazy manufacturer average C02/road tax systems in place. Which made this vid a bit ironic I guess, economical and powerful turbo US car beats the NA V8, fuel gulping Euro! I kinda like "the way forward", sure some people may miss V8s, but when you're getting economy and lower emmissions whilst still having a faster car, it's all good...

And they compared the price at the end, maybe they forgot that the Audi is a full on luxury car and the SHO isn't..? @AllAlaskan907 I got an idea, for a new ranger, have the 4.0, but boost its power with 4 valves and direct injection to about 300HP. Then, as an option for the FX4 package only, you get a supercharged 4.0, putting out 350hp. Offer a real 4 door, keep the same basic exterior but refine it, make it look beefier, and a little bit bigger. And offer the I4 ecobost for the other engine. Give it interior upgrades to look like the 150, and you got the best selling compact pickup in america.

@punchmaster123 The 6.7L Powerstroke is a turbo diesel. Instead of a turbocharger on each of the engine banks, it's a single-sequential turbo where a small turbo feeds a larger one.
I always hated this comparison. They put the SHO against a luxury sedan that's made for luxury. It's main rival is the S4 which is also a FI V6. The S4 is still a tiny bit more expensive, but expect to hit 0-60 times in 5.1 instead of 6.1.

Infiniti's hyrbrid 3.5 liter V6 outperforms the SHO's twin-turbo 3.5 liter V6 in every aspect. Twice the Gas Mileage, 10 car lengths faster through the 1/4 mile, that's what I call a win win. :)

The twin independent variable camshaft timing "TI-VCT monitors the necessary timing for the vehicle. And also you can compare a twin turbo V6 to a v8 look at the Ecoboost f150 and see what it does to the truck v8s it's embarrassing!!

@hightone4ever The car won't detonate even if you put 87 in it... Don't you think companies would already figure out some ppl are to retarded to put 91 or higher in it all the time?? My parents in law had a Mazdaspeed 6, they never put a dime of 91 octane in that car.. ever! and I've driven that car pretty fast myself, it never detonated nor had problems with it. The factory installs some form of fuel detection system and adjust fuel and ignition or boost pressure accordingly.
@hightone4ever That's why they included direct injection. Direct injection is usually the solution to detonation, because you can inject fuel at a much later time. EcoBoost takes 87 octane, although you achieve the full 365hp with 93 octane.
@hightone4ever u do relize all these cars have knock sensors that will adjust timing due to detonation a car that requires permium can run on regular but to obtain the hp numbers and mpg and all then it should be run on premium, i run premium in my truck because my motor is built i run a vodoo cam cold spark plugs a holley 770 carb and dished pistons to name a few things now she will run on 87 but if i run 91 then i can get a hell of alot more power out of her
$40K is far too much for a Taurus... The Audi is a superior vehicle, regardless of its straight line performance. I would never consider buying either vehicle, however.

@pfun41 clean but not as clean as alcohol. I think alcohol has an extra oxygen molecule making a more complete burn. I think that is why their is less energy in Ethanol than gas. oxygen helps for a complete burn, but it is not a carbon molecule making gas a longer carbon chain. I am not 100% sure on the specifics on both carbon chains. but i have never found a fuel with less particulate matter.

So...when comparing the Grand National to the 365 hp/350 ft. lbs EcoBoost V6 in the SHO....I'd HARDLY say that it would "eat it alive". The SHO is a mid-13 sec 1/4 mile car.....Grand National....low 14's. Maybe it's the SHO that's doing the eating?

Smaller, turbo'd engines are the way forward, been like that for a while in Europe, with our high fuel prices and kinda crazy manufacturer average C02/road tax systems in place. Which made this vid a bit ironic I guess, economical and powerful turbo US car beats the NA V8, fuel gulping Euro! I kinda like "the way forward", sure some people may miss V8s, but when you're getting economy and lower emmissions whilst still having a faster car, it's all good...

I'm not knocking ford, the ecoboost engine is great, but no shit a twin turbo direct injected V6 will beat a naturally aspirated V8 that's only a liter larger. And they compared the price at the end, maybe they forgot that the Audi is a full on luxury car and the SHO isn't..? Then, as an option for the FX4 package only, you get a supercharged 4.0, putting out 350hp. Offer a real 4 door, keep the same basic exterior but refine it, make it look beefier, and a little bit bigger. And offer the I4 ecobost for the other engine. Give it interior upgrades to look like the 150, and you got the best selling compact pickup in america.

I always hated this comparison. They put the SHO against a luxury sedan that's made for luxury. It's main rival is the S4 which is also a FI V6. The S4 is still a tiny bit more expensive, but expect to hit 0-60 times in 5.1 instead of 6.1.

Actually I'm a salesman for these cars...the Taurus you can put any octane from the pump and it doesn't detonate like other cars. The twin independent variable camshaft timing "TI-VCT monitors the necessary timing for the vehicle. And also you can compare a twin turbo V6 to a v8 look at the Ecoboost f150 and see what it does to the truck v8s it's embarrassing!!

The audi is NA... the ecboost is twin turbo with smaller turbo.. of coarse its going to win. now lets get the audi S4 2.7t 6 speed and lets see who wins or the sti 2.5 6 speed. eco boost is nice but still its a turbo car turbo equals more maintenence. may end up costing you 20000$ to buy, but you put 87 in by mistake and the car is going to detonate like no other. great car, but I dont think it would benefit in the long run. If you want high performance then get a high performance.

My parents in law had a Mazdaspeed 6, they never put a dime of 91 octane in that car.. ever! and I've driven that car pretty fast myself, it never detonated nor had problems with it. The factory installs some form of fuel detection system and adjust fuel and ignition or boost pressure accordingly.

@hightone4ever That's why they included direct injection. Direct injection is usually the solution to detonation, because you can inject fuel at a much later time. EcoBoost takes 87 octane, although you achieve the full 365hp with 93 octane.

I think that is why their is less energy in Ethanol than gas. oxygen helps for a complete burn, but it is not a carbon molecule making gas a longer carbon chain. I am not 100% sure on the specifics on both carbon chains. but i have never found a fuel with less particulate matter.
