  • Damn the 90s had some great bands. To bad I was only one and unable to enjoy it well it lasted.

  • When did the old lead singer of Journey grow "porkchop" sideburns and join this band?

  • These guys were awesome...Robert the bass player is a good friend of mine

  • Saw them a couple times at the trubador in hollywood in my early 20s . These dudes kicked some ass !!!! Makes me wanna grow my long hair back !!!! hahahaha !!!! Still listen to them all the time !!!!

  • Found this CD in a 2nd hand store today, didn't know anything about them so came here to listen. Going back tomorrow to pick it up! Sweet stuff!

  • This song brings tears to my eyes, thinking of what my ancestors went through.

  • Both Audley Freed and Robert Kearns are going to be playing at Warren Haynes Christmas Jam again this year which takes place December 10th ... but whats really cool, is that Jackie Green and Friends featuring Freed, Kearns, and Brad Pemberton are going to be playing at the Asheville Music Hall earlier in the day as well. Should be one hell of a day!

  • Was lucky to see these guys in a small bar in Orlando FL in late '93 or early '94 - one of the best shows I've ever seen. One of their encores was a spectacular version of Skynyrd's "On the Hunt". Just amazing. Great band.

  • @lakefield2112 Was the bar made out of train cars?

  • @smithtom555 Yes it was!!! Were you there? Was it called The Station or something? Man that was a great night!

  • ALL! current bands should be made to hear this!

  • Those are some tasty licks. Awesome phrasing.

  • yeah I too would pay big bux for tix to see this line-up reunite and tour>>>c'mon boys!! DO IT,DAMMIT !!

  • they kick ass in lexington

  • GOD I MISS THIS BAND!!!!!!!!!!GET THE FUCK BACK TOGETHER ALREADY!!!! WTF?!?!? With THIS line up!

  • Sorry this sounds more like Free or Bad Company that a grunge band. It's good but not different enough from old 70's rock

  • @Bazzah999 Yea, it was not grunge at all. The grundge scene in the early 90's is what made this band unnoticed at that time. 1993 and 1997 were tough years for this style of music though. Most of BC's stuff was big in the 70's and 80's and I can see the that style in this band. But try to play a song by BC or Free, then play this song or any COL song. yikes. You can find Audley on one of FatSound guitars demos where he recently played a run from a COL song, but only quickly.

  • @benellidown They didn't go unnoticed. This song hit #1 on Rock Radio in 1993, which was better than most grunge sogns were doing.

  • I think Robert Kearns is on tour with Skynard. C.O.L. was simply an excellent band! I wish the would bring it back :(

  • Audley Freed is the man

  • @hnjrocks HELL yeah! How good is that dude???

  • @hnjrocks Audley truly is THE MAN

  • @hnjrocks Yes sir, one of the most under rated talents around

  • it's just one of these GREAT SONGS....that simply can't be labelled into a genre....I think that's what makes them great.

  • love it!!!!!!!

  • Anyone know how to get hold of Robert Kearns? We worked at the same mall for a while back in the day and I haven't been able to find a way to send him a "hello". :(

  • fucking amazing, great band...

  • i am the lead guitarist for FRIJID PINK, and I have to say, this was one of my favorite bands to emerge since the mighty zep...what a fluid guitarist..great vocals, great songs...I still play the piss outa this disk...one of my all time favs !..wish I had a chance to tell them guys how much it has influenced my modern playing.

  • Great song on a great album...

  • One of the best songs to come out of the 90's. FUCKING GREAT!!!!!!

  • this song brings back alot of memories

  • if anyone knows wht or where Kelly's doing I sure appreciate

  • @lukemanify Kelly plays drums in a Raleigh, N.C.-based band called "Crush."

  • @UncleKG That's too bad. A perfectly good voice going to waste playing fucking drums. He is one of the top 10 vocalists of our time.

  • DO you even know what the song is about guys?? hiddenfromhistory

  • This band ROCKS!! Wish they had made more albums!

  • these guys sound like bad Company, but not in a bad way. This is sweet, thanks for tha post! Freezknot approves!

  • @biolectron - I loved the grunge era. You have to at least give credit to grunge for ridding the earth of bands like Warrant. Not to mention exposing the world to bands like Sound Garden and Alice in Chains. But I have to agree, this band deserved a bit more recognition than they received. Awesome band!

  • check out the acoustic burn in Mannheim Germany! on tube.

  • @biolectron don't hate on grunge bro. A LOT of killer bands came out of that era. Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, the list goes on.

It was nice to have bands like Cry of Love and Black Crows bring back the "classic" rock sound though!

  • 1st time I seen em they were opening for Robert Plant and IMO weree much better that night than Plant (off night for Robert) Love both Cry of Love cds can listen to the whole thing. Was geeked when Audley joined the Black Crowes (IMO once again Crowes are best band since Zeppelin)

  • I partied with them and the families on July 4,1994 Gaston Lake, Va/North Carolina. Great people! I loved it!

  • I partied with them and the families on July 4,1994 Gaston Lake, Va/North Carolina. Great people!

  • They were friends of my uncle's. Got to go to their rehearsals one night while visiting in NC. Have a cassette signed by them that night. Wish I could find a CD/mp3 these days. I really enjoyed CoL

  • how the hell did i miss these guys ....very hot sound ....

  • @markj1116 the Cry of Love singer has been playing in a Raleigh, NC cover band for years called Crush. Oddly enough, he plays drums...doesn't sing.

  • @marleymann - Actually, Kelly sings quite a bit in Crush. I was Cry Of Love's only tour manager when they were around; I worked for the band for 7 years, through all 3 singers. Was also Audley's guitar tech for a few years. I still keep up with all of them to this day.

  • Epic vocalist....Would be great to see this band re-unite just for a 5 song CD....I guess we can all dream....

  • The singer's disappeared (not really, but damn, do I miss his vocals!), the bass player is now in Skynyrd, and the guitarist, Audley Freed, played on the Courtyard Hounds release and was in the Black Crowes for a while. One helluva band!

  • oh my god... this is amazing. I'm from Portugal and I love this. I think it's the best band from 90's along with the awesomes Alice In Chains. This is what I love in music, great riffs and strong voices!

  • cool vid... good song

  • what a waste this should have been 1 of the biggest bands of the 90's but they flamed out, something w/the singer's ego i think, not sure though, like i said 2 bad. i saw them live in 92 or 93 they were the shit live!

  • @flyvibe71 i saw them live in a medium sized bar and they flat out rocked

  • i'd say they were more like 20 yrs too LATE. hardly what i think of when i hear the phrase "ahead of their time." not that i'm a huge nirvana fan, but cobain wrote better toons while passed out from the dooj...

  • Saw these guys twice in Seattle when this came out. Grunge was big, and noone knew who they were. they put on a great show to a small croud. The second time you could tell they were getting burned out by the lack of attendance. too bad, they were a great band, and although they got a new singer and released another album, it just wasn't the same.

  • I woke up this morning with this song in my head.......It has been a rockin day

  • I agree this was some good shit for its time

  • die vevo! and why not kill that talking gas pump that asks me to purchase 'buy one get one' coca cola products while i'm filling my car up with price-gouged gasoline...

  • Looking forward to Sun Jun 6th......good cause, good friends !

"It don't take, to keep me happy"

See ya there Brother Rob ;)

  • Cry of Love and Badlands kicked ass!!

  • what happened to these guys?

  • sorry made a typo i meant to write CRY OF LOVE not peacepipe.

  • saw them in calgary about 15 years ago, when they were finished there was about 200 people that wondered what the f*** was that!.they completely tore that place down.i have only seen one show as good as that and that was KISS. Kiss had about 2 million $ worth of stage props------all peacepipe had was guitars and whiskey!!!!!!!!!!

  • By far one of the best vocalists of our generation. Deserved so much more recognition than he will ever get.

  • good song i could'nt of said it better my self you see what they dont see

  • WOW! Me and my best friend went and seen these guys in Cedar Rapids, Iowa back in 1994. It was a small venu, almost like an over sized bar/tavern. They fucking burnt the place down!

  • Cedar Rapids ftw! lol

Too bad about that friggin flood though. :(

    I miss it.

  • vevo does suck bad

  • @daleah48 VVVVVVEEEEEEVVVVVOOOOOOO UUUUUUUUUUUU SUCK SO BAD !!!!!!!!!!

  • Robert is with Skynyrd now and Jason is playing drums for Nantucket.

  • vevo SUCKS!!!

  • Glad this was re posted. Man these dudes were way ahead of their time back in ''93'' To bad they got over shadowed by bad grunge.

  • Saw your comment about COL. They were GD incredible! Kelly is actually working on some new material in a project called "sun dawg"...real similar to COL's blues/southern rock sound. He also plays in a band called CRUSH in Raleigh NC. Dont know what happened to Audley, I heard he went on to play with the Crows...but I dont really know. G86

  • @theGDbatman8686

If you haven't yet, check out Gov't Mule and their "Live With A little Help From Our Friends" release Audley rips up quite a few songs on there.

  • Audley did go on to play for the crowes for a little while...but not anymore. he's a touring guitarist now for whoever wants him....he's played with the Dixie Chicks, Joe Perry...he'd done Chris Robinson's New Earth Mud record....he's basically today's Duane Allman...hehe....he does session work for EVERYBODY!...hehe....COL needs to get back together though.....I think we need them!....hehe

  • @biolectron Actually I think these guys were 20 years behind? Sounds like regular ol 70's southern rock to me. I think 38 Special had a good run in the 80's, and they were only 10 years behind. BTW the guitarist is playing professional poker now, he wears sunglasses so you can't see him. This is o.k. but I'd rather listen to Alice in Chains...or dig up my 8-tracks.

  • @joesl8 audley freed is a pro poker player now?

  • @biolectron I like the song, but "Way ahead of their time"? Seriously? It's a cross between--or maybe an homage to-- Billy Squier, Bad Company, Skynyrd,Free, etc. Also, "bad grunge"? So they were "overshadowed" by bands who possessed some semblance of originality? I like this band. If you like this band, then fine, but there's no reason to debase other forms of music in order to support your opinion.

  • @bruiser1911 good analogy.

  • @biolectron they weren't really ahead of their time. they came around too late. grunge was popular. these guys should have been around in the 70's. them and the Black Crowes both have that 70's rock sound
