Fender Jim Root Telecaster

Hey guys, would this guitar be suitable for playing Metallica?? I mean, the pickups are the same, but it's still a Fender.. Plus I can't find it anywhere here just to try it out so i would really appreciate some hints about it..thanks guys..

ha ha marty mcfly plays slipknot and the jim root tele is a great guitar for the price if your in a heavy metal tribute band you should check 1 of these babies out because the emgs kick ass and the body is mahogany like a les paul so its very heavy just a shame theres no tremolo bar but it is a telecaster

This guitar sounds like every Schecter guitar on the planet using using EMGs. In fact, it actually sounds like EVERY guitar on the planet using an EMG 81 in the bridge. I keep buying 'em because they punish the front end of an amp but I keep selling 'em six months later when I'm reminded of how bloody sterile they sound. You could string up a toilet seat with an 81 and it's going to sound like this.

@Maxx61 hey man, i totally agree with you, active pickups push had but are quite sterile sounding. i personally like the blackouts in my schecter and ibanez and they are the first actives i can support. actually pulled out the freshly installed zw emg from my sg and gave them away. you should try some bare knuckles or dimarzios or i dunno Seymour's. are good two don't need actives to push hard :D

@icedteaburst I first began using Dimarzio X2N's in 1982. lol I prefer them and Bill Lawrence 500XL's but I've been hearing good things about Seymour's Blackouts. I might have to give 'em a try.

although i like passive pickups better, the emg 81 and 60 sound fuckin rad. they sound fantastic clean and jazzy with a little gain on top, and totally metal with a lot of gain.

tbh, out of all the signature guitars ive ever tried, i've never been more impressed with the Jim Root Telecaster and Strato, its comftable, has awesome tones, suites my style. seriously in the future when i can buy my Fender (my dream guitar) i will buy the Jim Root Signature. =)

also, Jim Root is one of my faves.

Pinch harmonics sound great, the emg's growl. THey get shit on a lot, but I like emgs for some genres of music. What are you playing right now for an amp?

there is no such thing as a blackout EMG dude, there are however blackouts from semore duncan. Those are what mick plays the root has an EMG 81/bridge and a 60/neck pickup configuration

EMG's a matter of taste and are popular for a reason. Also, guitarist are great by their influence of others not just ability, its about taste. i.e. kerry is not a good player, but slayer is awesome or VAI is a true master but not an influence except for us guitarists. For 30 yrs James/kirk influenced more bands/people than any. 9 grammys, over 100 million sold, FIRST band 5 straight #1 albums. concerts sell out and still have new CDs.
