yep...a good landing! When I've encountered terrible, switchy, strong air at ground level, I've opted to come down on the wheels and roll ahead (on very smooth terrain)
When pioneering new sites and especially as a new pilot learning to read conditions, I think you'll find this helpful. Try putting up lots of long streamers all around your launch and LZ. Get them up high to minimze the dampening of the wind gradient near the ground. Then use them to determine if the wind is to squirelly to fly safe. Have fun.
@snakedike Hi. Thanks very much for this suggestion that I'll put into practice. I also wished I lived in an easier area where to fly, at least in this hang-gliding apprenticeship phase of mine... Cheers!
Thanks mirageg4! All suggestions for improvement are highly welcome. I indeed had the feeling that my turns could be more efficient. Your suggestion makes a lot of sense. If I understand well, it’s a matter of optimizing the shift of body weight towards the turning side. Cheers!
@eliade66 That's exactly right. If you lead your turn with your feet, it makes you shift your body weight, resulting in a crisper turn. Just a thought! Thanks for the vid and keep em coming!
yes, the effect of rotor was more pronounced in your flight due to turning and lower speed...maybe you need to rethink flying that site - looks like a site with lots of potential problems with rotor everywhere! Is it a sanctioned and recognised place to fly or just somewhere local that looked ok? turning slowly in a rotor area and the low clearance to those trees looks a bit too close for comfort!!
Hi, Mr Andrew! Well, this is the place where I live, and where there is no regular hang gliding activity. There are just a couple of local fellows and some few visitors occasionally practicing paragliding. Unfortunately, there are no many land fields appropriate for hang gliding landings. So I try when and where I can…after observing birds flying and wind blowing. And, of course, I learn a lot at each flight!
@eliade66 might be safer to driver further and find a safer site, looks a dangerous site I think, even if it is close to home, rotor on launch, during the flight, and in the landing zone, not much fun in flight and potentially dangerous my friend!
As any pilot knows, not all flights go as planned, especially in areas with highly varied conditions....Nice work

@jwm239 Hi! Indeed, an on-wheels landing would have been hard-way option over a 2-feet hay "carpet ". Thanks for your comment! :))

Good flight bro! One suggestion...focus on leading your turns with your feet.
P.S. Sanctioned????...LOL
