Gotta LOVE a Tacoma. Somebody saying that the Tacoma is worthless, it makes me depressed. Perfect size, and smooth for its ride. I own a 2012 Tacoma and I'm sticking with it for a VERY long time. Go Tacoma :) Who don't have a Tacoma? lol
2006 Tacoma double cab. Just went over 100,000 miles couple weeks ago. 23mpg hwy...20mpg city. Towed 21 ft. travel trailer (4900 lbs) from Maine to Alaska and back. Maine salts roads in winter. No rust, no leaks, NO QUIT from this truck. Would I buy again...you bet. Only mod is a K & N air filter.
@BonziBuddys i fixed the so called recall long before they recalled mine... i had the floor mat stick my pedal down once, then another time like a week after that in traffic, so i pulled it out, and replaced it... no problems now.... month or two later they recalled it, i laughed when i saw that.... ive had my share of problems with my truck, but i dont go online and bitch about em, i have em fixed or fix em myself...
@BonziBuddys yup.. with a few "fan boy" type cars, like the mini cooper, if you go to car survey.org and just scan the amount of comments and gauge the quality of the vehicle. In general more comments is worse. The tacoma is a bit strange.. it has many comments but many are positive and refuting bad reviews, and of course many negative reviews on vehicles are driven by ignorance and over spending.
great truck, but make sure you rust proof the frame when you get it, like that one guy said, every vehicle has it flaws, ive seen too many 2001-2006 tacoma frames rust out now, as much as i like toyota, they did a horrible job rust proofing from factory, so rust proof it and it will last you forever!
@DreadlockDrummer Seen too many 1970-2006 toyota frames/subframes rust out. The frame on the 2nd generation tacoma is made of butter and poorly finished. Its strong enough and well designed, but made in america of chinese or japanese steel.
Make sure to seal it, knock off weld slag... get something into the lap welds or move to the desert.
Guys, i need help im looking for a toyota tacoma with a access cab my price range is 13k and i mileage highest it can go is 60,000 and has 19 city and 25 highway can anyone find me one please
@TheKmank45 For what you are looking for in terms of price, mileage and efficiency, you're looking at a 2wd base model. I've been shopping around myself and quickly realized these trucks are the most expensive on the market compared with their competition.
its V6 245hp actually rivals some v8. it's very responsive. but tend to be too noisy unless cruising on the freeways. Tundra
V8 however is like driving in a Lexus. quietest pickup ever. but gas mileage of Tundra sucks. Tacoma V6 mileage is among the best for pickups. for dependability, I don't think you can go wrong with either truck. Toyota just knows how to build reliable trucks.
I'm in So California so rust is not too much of an issue. I was under my truck yesterday. Zero rust so far but I will keep and eye out since I'm on the beach on a regular basis.
My 05 is in the low 100K mark as of now. No major repairs. Gas, oil and the basics. Trouble free despite the fact that I drive it as if I just robbed a bank some times..LOL

That's because people with complaints are going to be the ones to immediately go online and complain about their problems.
