  • This has to be the song that is playing when you go to heaven

  • almost makes me want to cry. It's so beautiful :'3

  • Where on Earth did you get this?! It's my favorite piece of music and I can't find it on CD to save my life. Every other version throws in sound effects or other instruments.

  • @LegendaryBadass He probably just recorded it straight off the dvd like I did. It is not on any soundtrack.

  • Its the version I grew up with, but I am going to have to say that the german ivory tower version is much better.

  • Giorgio Moroder, i'm proud to be italian, great soundtrack!

  • omg, i love this theme. personally, i like it better than what is given on the soundtrack, but that's my opinion...

  • Call me a synthfag, but I love this version, and prefer it to the German original. Though the synth-drivenness of it is indeed quite out of place in a fantasy scene, the actual composition I think sounds a lot more beautiful.

  • Can you PLEASE send this song to me? It's so insanely beautiful, and sad.

  • klaus doldingers theme fits the scene better. but this version is not bad either =) i prefer doldingers though...

  • magnific

  • wondeful. Thank you to share it with us.

  • i kinda like this theme... In the scene where atreyu flies to it, this music plays and i felt like, the nothing cant penetrate it, because its the core of fantasy.

  • I think that the original version sonds somehow much more epic and adds some grandeur. This version here sounds ok, but more like...some old Nintendo game theme, too playful and harmless for my taste.

  • I tend to think the OTHER one sounds like something out of a video. Way too modern and techno-y.

  • I agree there Crippler.

The techno beat of the one on the soundtrack really turned me off when I heard it. In a movie like this, it was terribly out of place.

This is nice and soft and flowing, a real majestic feeling to convey the pinnacle of all fantasy. Thanks for the post man!

  • Just beautiful...

  • How did you extract this? Did you use the (region 1) dvd menu or did you find a way to isolate the music from the rest of the sound in the movie?

  • i've make a audio file with any track on the DVD. Is juste a éditing. This version was never producted in CD or Vinil, just for the movie in 1984.

  • the _original_ and german version is muc much much better!!

  • I see. I understand your position, but not share.

  • You people can give negative ratings as much as you like but it doesn't change the fact that this is not the original music.

  • Your opinion is normal. I've seen your videos and I suspect that you're German. Thus, you should just try to forget nationalism, and feel the art. I think the Moroder version is more impressive, more of a palatial building as monumental as the Ivory Tower.

  • This has nothing to do with nationalism. The original music has been removed and replaced by a totally different tune. It does not deliver the feeling the creators and especially the composer had intended.

  • I agree with NicollBolas here... Too us raised on this theme and I saw the German version this theme is way more balanced than the orginal arrival theme its like hearing the flight theme over and over again its nice but I want something diffrent for the Ivory Tower

This theme makes a statement that the Ivory Tower is Delicate yet Mighty at the sametime!!!!

  • Not only it does deliver, it does better.

  • Doubtful.

Moroder uses synthesizers, Doldinger an orchestra and a choir.

  • Does anyone know if this song (this majestic instrumental, not the longer version) has actually been released on compact disc or MP3 format?

I can't find it on iTunes or anywhere. This YouTube video is the only place I've heard the song outside the actual movie.

  • I know

The only version that seems to be available anywhere is that techno-sounding remix on the OST

There's a really cool, almost rock version that appears in the theatrical trailer that is different from both this version and the one on the soundtrack

  • I do not think, there exists the version rock and electronics one the soundtrack. That you listen to in the video is a version extracted from the movie.

  • I think this version was actually extracted from the main menu of the dvd.

I uploaded a video that was sourced from the movie.

  • "I never thought that the Ivory Tower was so beautiful" The truth is that here in Spain, I always saw the scene with this version, in fact, when I got the soundtrack, I was disappointed not to find it.

  • Upon listening to Doldinger's theme a few times, I can see it is really a beautiful piece of music

I now think I am torn between the two

  • The Doldinger theme is more ethereal and magical, while this one is more majestic and awe-inspiring

Both are good, though I do prefer the Moroder version

  • Couldnt say it any better... I was never bashing the German version I just had no words to describe it well enought but Doldinger's theme is nice but I just prefer this theme cause the Ivory Tower is supposed to be Awe-Inspiring

  • @krystlerita I agree. The Moroder version is the song that I want playing when I enter heaven.

  • This is from Giorigio Moroder and this is the Theme that most of who was Raised on the American Version Like..and Im not Disrespecting Doldinger as I think hes a genius as well but This is the Ivory Tower theme that give it its aura of Mightiness, Majestic feeling yet is delicate too.. A well Balance theme more Balance the The Slow Happy Flight theme... And to it gives the Ivory Tower its own theme.. That is why this theme is better than the German version in my opion...

  • Thanks :) did you separated it from the dialogue?

BTW, the music is by Giorgio Moroder, not by Klaus Doldinger.
