it keeps the coolant from leaking into the block from the water jackets, which are coolant filled cavities in the rotor housing, behind the combustion chamber

But seriously, that's pretty much it, but with new parts. Dont forget to properly clearance the side seals

no timing components to worry about :)

timing is key to a rotary engine or a piston engine. if you try to advance or retard too much failure can and will happen. like in any engine. just no valves to worry about.
