if you want to see the textures, just go to view --> 3D textured polygons

in 1:14 you press enter after you put the skybox i press enter and move out frm the box and its not colored its still a box and you can see trough it what did i do wrong?

@cruckz The part where you make the skybox hollow, It is in fact not the best way to make a skybox, BUT it is the best if you just began mapping because it never has holes and stuff... xDDD Very helpfull tutorial I think... But if you make your skybox precisely around your map this way, you can better enter the number -32, it's better... ;)

you showed a lot more things to do for hammer than other tutorials, but for first timers like me, don't you think we should first learn how to make a room without texture. just a room stocked with guns and meds? just to get a feel for what we're doing? i heard that if you don't texture the sides right, you lose a lot of processing space...

hmmm "you lose alot of processing space" you probably heard about no draw! this is really for optimization and is the last thing you want to learn as it goes with the terrotry with vvis leaves and other complicated stuff! how ever if you have a small map and dont use no draw it wont use up that much processing power ! what you really want to watch out for is using lots of props, ragdoll props especialy, if you cram too many into one room thats when problems arrise

right click in the top left corner of the camera screen there should be an option such as textured decal or sumat forgoten the exact name but it allows you to see the textures hope this helped mate and we all start out as noobs

hi! Video very helpful but i dont understand one thing...i've created a map simple like you showed put on the info_player_terrorist and for ct the other, but when i compiled the map i can't play it!!! The map loads and when i want to enter either team it shows that teams are full!! Please help!!

few thing to try:

put the start spawns a little off the ground and create about 6 of each. make sure that u have the sdk set up correctly (ures will be but a suprizing amount of people try make maps for cs on hl deathmatch)
