Wow ! Shame on me, but I hand't heard this song until November 2011, less than month ago. I heard it at the music stand at artisan market in Varadero. This monotonous but full of passion chanting-like refrain stroke me profoundly. Couple of days ago I heard this song again on FM jazz radio station in Toronto. At the time I turned car radio on, it was coming to an end already. "Performed by Buena Vista Social club", was announced afterwards. Of course I knew the name. Search on youtube, bingo !

I wish all the Castro loving communist could live in Cuba, as a real Cuban citizen and see how great it is. Cell phone access has only been available to them within the last couple of years. Televisions are the equivalent of a middle-class man buying a Lamborghini, it's possible, but requires a huge investment. They can't even stay at hotels with the other tourist. Castro's first priority is the image that communism works. The people are second class citizens, below and hidden from everyone.
