  • If I remember right, WYNY-FM was a country station when it swapped dial positions with then WQHT-FM 103.5 in the great frequency swap of 1988.

  • 97YNY was a great station, Its a shame NBC sold it, I remember the station had several format changes in the 70's and 80's including a all news format that backfired on them, then they did an all beatles format for a very short time, Originally WRCA-FM,WNBC-FM,WNWS,then WYNY.

  • 97 WYNY was the best station in NYC in the

'80's...Dan Daniel, Steve O'Brien, Mark Sommers, "Dr. Ruth", "Saturday with Sinatra".

Other stations, like WPIX, tried to copy the format/air personality mix but failed.

  • I Remember 97 WYNY in an aircheck CD, and it was one of NYC's soft rock stations. Today it's known as WQHT, Hot 97. What up, dawg!
