  • Just plain Great. Peace and Love!!

  • Namaste. Beyond words. Mr. Michaels and Frosty seemed to embody 'The 25', as it were. Such greatness. Always cherished. Timeless. Thank You. Namaste.

  • You like that Hair Yeah!!! Lee's touring again soon !!

  • @jeroplane1 Im finally gonna get to see Lee play live!!!! I can hardly wait!!! WOOOO Help Me!!! I just love him :)

  • @jeroplane1 Yeah I read that on his website too. I met him a few months ago but I think that was before he decided to "play out" cus he didnt mention it. He did tell me his new restaurant is opening soon, Ill be there for sure!! He is such a nice guy too.

  • I dont think Lee has owned a comb since 1968! He just has thee best hair!

  • Thanks for the video. I wasn't lucky enough to get to see Lee in person, so appreciate this video. It's great. He was ahead of his time!

  • Who is the fat fuck on drums?

  • @CatapultYourMom You mean the guy playing the crap out of the drums????

  • @CatapultYourMom Don't hate.

  • somebody actually "disliked" this video??? How could anyone not like Lee Michaels???

  • Wow ! Just plain awesome !!!

  • He was just about 30 years ahead of his time.....White Stripes anyone?

    Man what a voice!

  • @ssaintc1 Lee blows them away!!!

  • Those cymbals come from hell, they don't fit youtube.

  • lee and frosty. UCR & UCI 1969. good lord. great stuff. thanks.

  • iceye33, the name of the tune is "No Part of It" off the RECITAL album.

Oh how I wish there were more videos posted of Lee Michaels. What a truely dynamic performer he was!

  • @CherzieBear thanks. Yeah, YouTube is seriously lacking on the Lee Michaels live performances.

  • The drums-organ duo is born!

  • I loved Carnival Of Life & Recital, from then on I was a fan. Last time I saw Lee was late 70s at Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, CA (now gone). He mostly played guitar, had a chick bass player, killer show. I asked his roadie to get my pic signed but Lee crumpled it up. Guess he was mad at the record co? Next show I took a photo I had taken from the last show-he signed it. One of 3 people I ever asked for autographs from. He & his bands had the original Wall Of Sound. 2good2BForgotten.

  • What's the name of this song?

  • Great recording. Saw them in '73 Springfield, Missouri. Fanfriggintastical! Love that scream, that soul, the power in the keyboard, and that Frosty, what a drum genius!

  • Lee had a great sound. Amazing what a keyboard and drums could do. I still love to hear Lee's music.

  • Lee was a headbanger before it was cool!!!

  • what was this, a TV show or something?

  • Lee Michaels has THEEE best hair in rock and roll!!

  • He was one of my favorite groups to hear a Fillmore West! those wails and organ crescendos would send chills up your spine!

  • The song is called "No part of it" from the Recital album I think

Lee is the best keyboard player that ever lived. I wish I could meet him someday!!

  • FROSTY NOT ON LIVE RECORD?

  • what the fuck is the song called

  • Frosty is a banger/basher - my favorite Lee Michaels stuff is on the "Lee Michaels Live" double album (vinyl) - a guy named Keith Knudson was the drummer - beautiful stuff - since deceased, and ended up playing a long time with the Doobie Brothers - what a let down - that's my understanding - correct me if I'm wrong - Lee Lives!!!

  • @sayonaray2000

nope...you are wrong...that's Frosty on Lee Michaels LIVE.

Frosty lives in Austin and still plays as good as anybody I've ever heard!

in one of the rare Led Zep interviews with Circus magazine, Bonham cites Frosty as his favorite drummer! And a friend of mine who tour managed Robert Plant confirmed that Plant was hoping to "see Frosty play somewhere while in Austin.

NOW - listen to Frosty's solo on Lee Michaels LIVE and then listen to Moby Dick. Which record came first?

  • ok - I checked it out ... the record I am talking about is just called LEE MICHAELS, and was released on A&M in 1969...but it was recorded live in the studio with Frosty, which is why I got confused.

while Lee Michaels Live was released in 1973 and indeed does feature Keith Knudson on drums. oops...my bad.

still doesn't take ANYTHING away from the badass drumming of FROSTY!!!!

  • @papamali1 papa~ I was at the 1973 live record show. It was in Carnegie Hall on 57th Street, NYC. Keith Knudson was drumming, he left Lee and joined The Eagles (and made the big bucks). I saw Lee in I think1978 at a small venue just off of the Stanford Campus. He had his amps up to ear-splitting LOUD! I had to leave. I don't know who his drummer was at that show.

  • @ghahandi Knudsen was never with The Eagles —They only had one drummer back in those days —Don Henley —I think you mean "The Doobie Brothers" —Knudsen joined them around the time they recorded the "Stampede" album ('75-ish) —And, the drummer playing for Lee at that ear-splitting loud show was, most likely, Joel Larson, who was the drummer from "The Grass Roots"...

  • Great tune. It's nice to hear another Lee Michaels tune other than "Do You Know What I mean"?

  • I can only see strenghts in this performance. It's amazing how Lee managed to get the best drummers of the time. This may tell something.

    AMAZING!!! LEE MICHAELS.

  • Frosty lookin' like he havin' good time. But please, Frosty, leave some Ho-Ho's for the rest of us.

    Damn, I love this shit.

  • Great stuff - I miss Lee so much . . .

  • Wow! Incredible! Is Lee still in Hawaii? I sure miss Lee. But I saw Frosty just an hour ago playing blues right here in Austin. Still great!

  • @Rickm512 I think Lee is living in Venice , CA now, at least as of last year, I could be wrong tho

  • ....man frosty doesn't fuck around!!

  • ITS SOOOO COOOL!

  • Does anyone know what happen to Lee Michaels? He just stopped playing and did not want anyone to find him?

  • @TheSpooky93065 he lost his hearing cause he used 20 amps during his shows, he doesn't play music anymore. i think he lives in marin county

  • @OCRdotORG thank's for the reply-spooky93065

  • powerfull duo....can feel the soul through my grainy, bad sounding laptop.....

  • Thanks for posting this video. 5* totally kicks ass.

  • Lee Michaels was great. He had so manyy great albums and songs. Blue eyed soul genius. Robert Plant always talks about how great Lee was .

  • I saw Lee with Eddie Van Halen at the Whiskey in Hollywood. This was before Eddie became famous!

  • These guys where fantastic. This is what real music is all about. Incredible playing!!!

  • Lee Michaels Rocks! Soulful singing and can rip on the B3 when he wants to.. he used to own the restaurant Killer Shrimp in Studio City & Marina Del Rey...think he moved to Hawaii...come back Lee! We need some real musicians with real voices!!

  • power duo-lots of today's duos could learn a thing from lee and frosty.

  • At least as good as the White Stripes.

  • better.

  • I was lucky enough to see Lee and Frosty at the Hollywood Bowl with Iron Butterfly and John Mayal in 69. Great music

  • lucky!

  • This is the ONLY video I've ever seen of Lee Michaels and Frosty. I really wish there were more to show my students. Soulful, rocking, and inspiring ('cause it sounds like you could do it, besides it being great).

  • Great vid! What is the name of the song, though?

  • Song = No Part Of It

  • No part of it

  • iam happy finally some video on Lee and Frosty. Im surprised there isn't more. All the concerts they did in So Cal. I saw them 11 times all over. Incredible voice and so much soul. I loved them. I wish they were still playing.

  • lee and frosty are incredible.........had this record forever....never saw this yet though........nasty!

  • One of my greatest inspirations for playing the Hammond Organ, someday when I get the nerve up I'll do a Lee Michaels tribute show with a drummer....going to need a few months to practice for that...those are some HUGE soulful shoes you left us to try to fill Lee and Frosty!!!!

    5 Stars!!

  • @SathenMusic Well if you do a show I'll come see it, I never got to see Lee live :(

  • Frosty and Lee rock!!!! why can't music be like this in my generation?

  • @2guysandagirl1992 Because we got the luck of growing up with video games, internet, and incredible technology, but an unfortunate derth of soul and talent.

  • @2guysandagirl1992

Actually, "Rock and Roll Circus" by The Sights come pretty close. It here on You Tube...Check it!

  • There is a similarity to Chris Robins.

  • Now THAT is truly part of music history. Those guys did music right ! ! !

  • what a great video, i'll never forget the first time i heard them.

  • Frosty is alive and playing with another B3 player named Mike Flanigin. They play on the weekends in the lounge above the Continental Club. He remains an incredible drummer.

  • Think Frosty is no longer alive; Michaels opened up a string of shrimp restaurants mostly in Southern CA, but not sure if he is still involved with them. Was maybe the loudest "band" out there in his day; the 2 of them made a glorious noise and Lee was the king of screams.

  • I saw Lee Michaels at the Filmore East in 1970 or '71...brilliant! I even named my first son after him. I think Cactus and Juicy Lucy opened for him.

  • Frosty lives in Austin and plays in the house band at Antone's. Was also in Soulhat in the 90s

  • You know jack White listened to at least 1000 hrs of these two.

  • Nowadays Lee owns a restaurant in Venice Beach. I saw him when he was a headliner. Huge speaker system blasting his Hammond B3 - incredible. Long time ago, Santana was just breaking in and was the warm up band to open the show.

  • this is wha biily joel realy waned to do wth jon sma ljon only playd one style heavy great in hi own light h was great

  • MAN it's been a long time since I heard Lee & Frosty. Funny that Mrcapps mentioned Van Morrison, since I get the same vibe also. You almost forget about these guys, then one of their songs come up and you say "OH YEAH!" and it just rocks your socks off. So soulful. Thanks for posting!

  • Best video I seen all day. Thanks for posting

  • lee and frosty opened for creedence late 60 s stole the show wonderful an alltime favorite not much live stuff out there

  • Lee Michaels has the same kind of passion and soul that Van Morrison can understand. Genuine and powerful.

  • The White Stripes could learn a thing or two from this. My high school biology teacher turned my on to Lee and Frosty; I've never been the same.

  • Jack White no doubt wore out the grooves listening to the live album these two did.

  • amazing voice!!!

  • The original studio version of this song "No Part" was on the album "Recital"..the keyboard parts were played by Lee on the old honky tonk piano..this is equaly as cool...Frosty is so fluid and in the pocket....Lee has the coolest touch on the B3 and what a voice ...and he is easy on the eyes also....what the F happened to these guys...this was just too good!!!!!

  • great

  • Yeahhhhhhh!!! Finally a video of the man - hope there are more out there somewhere....

  • The only video of the great Lee Michaels. Love the B3 and of course, Frosty. A big thanks for posting this gem.

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting. Lee demonstrates about every aspect of his performance abilities - a rocker - a blues guy - a little folk and lots of soul - along with beloved Frosty whose drum solos are like none else - where are you guys? I love you now as I did back then in l969+

  • Heard a 1969 album from lee and frosty, the two man band. Amazing talent and quite a bluesy, almost church-like soulful sound. Beautiful talent.
