  • GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Soft punk has been round since the mid Seventies. Listen to Siouxsie Sioux & the, for example.

  • Relatively softer than their usual stuff-but this is one of THE great albums IMO.

  • the beauty of killing joke is that they can make so many differant styles of songs but they always sound like killing joke!! a very special band indeed

  • I've always really liked this album, but this song is so soppy it sounds as if Dollar ought to be singing it. I can just imagine David Van Day and Therese wossname warbling "down from the hills, into the forest, walking on sand, into the water..." - it's a long way from "We Have Joy".

  • The fisrt and best punk bands where european, mostly british; and all the shit eaters who speak about ramones, offspring, green day and all that MTV crap can go and suck their dick !

  • @gagarin001 , The ramones, Bad brains, bad religion , nofx, black flag, dead kennedys, dri, etc etc, what about that asshole? thats pure and very good punk, anyway, Sid Vicious weren't able to play bass at all and, wearing Nazi t-shirt, i mean, that is anti-punk fuck the pistols they werent punk and, fuck off you smells cheez

..grunge lol its only a genre given by big media to sells more... nirvana defined themselves to be punk, and so the ramones is the first punk band ever Fuck you

  • @gagarin001 Let me laugh at your face, the first punk and the best punk band were from California, blackflag, (1976)bad religion (1978), dead kennedys,(1977) or washington; bad brains (1977), or new york; the ramones in 1970!! and your comments proove that you are so idiot and your lack of arguments proove that you are very stupid, ignorant mind fucked smelling your own fart

  • @gagarin001 are you out of your mind? the first punk band is the ramones(1970) , after, dead kennedys, bad religion, bad brains, black flag, etc etc etc all in the late seventies (1976-77-78-79), and a far way better than your fucking pop-rock-selling out-commercial band the clash or the pistols

  • All eras start and end, deal with it. My aunt was a corabid ELVIS fan---she even shared a kiss on stage with him. Elvis was a R5ock & Roll GOD from 1955-1962 but was made irrevant by the British Invasion and the 60s just like Punk made the Beatles irrevant. My time warp is POST-Punk-Pre Grunge or 1979-1994 (Joy Division up to Nurvana). 1994-2004 Alternative is not my scene and, lets face it, ROCK died 2007-all we have today is RAP R&B and Blue Eyed Soul sung by 'entertainers. I heart da 80s

  • @Armydicked LET ME LAUGH AT YOUR FACE

  • been a hardcore KJ fan since day one, and this is still my favorite KJ album

  • Jaz the Genius

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY Agreed, if not prone to spouting some "interesting" philosophies at times, his genius is obvious and enjoyed by you and me both. He has a good grip on power, politics and the plight of the common people i suspect?

  • I agree, the term Punk has been possessed now by every little lurching pubescent angry with their father and authority. Lets not forget that there were some great punk bands from other parts of the world also, not forgetting that the Brits gave us a massive gift in birthing an art form bent on rebellion and critique of the elitist post-war order?

  • @oratere01 the ramones is the forst punk band after dead kennedys black flag minor threat the first hardcore punk bands

  • @Melvin0082 Does it really matter who was first?

  • @Melvin0082 only ignorants , (american of course) assholes and macdonald shit eaters can think like that ! guess somebody did you in the toilet somewhere in Texas, you lowlife

  • @gagarin001 you are a killing joke yourself this band sounds like duran duran popshit , go fuck yourself with a baseball bat the true Punks were black flags, dead kennedys, bad brains, fear, In the western world, that was the true hardcore punk scene, but the sex pistols were a pop-rock-virgin,neo-nazi-band, and they were only there for making money to buy heroins, but in the USA the scene was about Unity and respect, anti-nazi, anti-fascist, i've been part of this, you cANT imaGINE hc-punk

  • @gagarin001 you put all americans in the same bag, so only for that, you are so far from beying punk, youre a fascist-racist douche bag, STOP generalizing , because when you do that, you proove that is you the ignorant narrow mind fucked, Punk is about Unity and Respect, if youre ready to throw some bricks at the cops, or kick some neo-nazis ass, Itt doesnt matter the colour of your skin or what country you are from, because, we are not countrys, but you are soo proud to be european, wow, (next)

  • im "fairly sure"(speculation) he wrote this about new zealand, as he lived here on Waihiki island

  • i loved this lp

  • *-*

    Me encanta este tema ...!

  • *-* Me encanta este tema ...!

  • This is a great album one of their best alongside Absolute Dissent, but this track is too much like Simple Minds

  • couldn't say it better buddy!! :) facing death with a heart full of joy!!

    merry christmas-glædelig jul!! :D

  • grunge was wall to wall shit, not one imaginative band among them.killing joke are a genre of their own .brilliant and colossol.

  • dal post punk al disco pop Bad!!

  • ahhh arguably it's about new zealand, it;s so dam nz, Jaz even lived here

  • one of the best songs, why noone puts live videos of easy songs of Killing Joke

  • This is proof that Killing Joke ain't just for people who like a single genre, it's a band for people who love music!

  • Brighter Than A Thousand Suns...Just brilliant and ahead of the many .One of my fav works of musical art...I bow in honor....This work is so gorgeous and full of much thought...Peace KJ~A

  • This is the only song I don't like off the album. It's the choruses that put me off. Rest the album is brilliant though. Truly underrated.

  • @LargeLeader really? Goodbye to the Village-that is Incredible, as are the rest

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY Yes, unfortunately. I just can't get into it. Goodbye to the Village is brilliant though. I'm a big fan of Chessboards too.

  • @LargeLeader Adorations is Epic, Sanity is ok

  • This definitely doesn't sound like the other two Killing Joke songs that I know (Seeing Red and Pandemonium). It took me a few minutes to get used to this song, but I like it.

  • does KJ perform any of the music from this album still I wonder?

  • @urckrecords

Nope. They basically avoid playing anything from this album and Outside The Gate. I don't blame them haha.

  • @WarsNoFairytale90 You might be surprised to hear in that case that Jaz Coleman has claimed BTATS is his favourite Killing Joke album.

  • wow, i was 16 and working at "musicland" at the mall when this came out. i was too busy listening to crap on the radio and didn't pay attention to KJ.

  • point is, the production style in the late 80s sucked -- plain and simple, 14 layers of shitty reverb on everything, etc.

almost every band was guilty of that shit, that's why grunge had to happen

  • Urcjrewcords, Calaverasgrande - Don't agree - this Killing Joke album is good - not the best more mild but not shit. Grunge had to happen and produced a lot of shit as well. Without the Pistols, Clash, Iggy, Killing Joke, Sonic Youth etc. USA Grunge Scene would never have happen. Plain and simple. Nirvana I actually don't mind but KJ was first and best. Oh, Punk Like Green Day makes me ill. A case of Clash first and better. Thank God for the Brits.

  • Add - Some people just don't get it - a change of place, some variety doesn't mean crap or sell out - just look today at the momentous crap - that sucks - Yes after grunge we now got shitty rap crap, hip pop, and R@B everywhere! Regards from Ziggy, Iggy, Reed, Siouxsie, Joy Division, NY dolls. AC/DC oz. Oh I seen KJ a few times over the years Agree with jwgeary

  • @marvanme the ramones, bad religion , nofx, black flag, deadkennedys, dri, etc etc, what about that asshole? thats pure and very good punk, anyway

..grunge lol its only a genre given by big media to sells more... nirvana defined themselves to be punk, and so the ramones is the first punk band ever Fuck you

  • @marvanme rAMONES fist AND a way better than the clAsh. and, after bad brains, black flag, bad religion, dead kennedys , all in the seventies, TheY All KiCK tha clash or the shitty Pistols ass, you dont even know what is the true american punk basements, not the fucking fake pistol on major label like virgin, and what about the clash, they were selling out and pop-rock as the Rolling stones, so far from the true american hardcore punk scene, began in the late 70's ..

  • @marvanme rAMONES first AND a way better than the clAsh. and, after bad brains, black flag, bad religion, dead kennedys , all in the seventies, TheY All KiCK tha clash or the shitty Pistols ass, you dont even know what is the true american punk basements, not the fucking fake pistol on major label like virgin, and what about the clash, they were selling out and pop-rock as the Rolling stones, so far from the true american hardcore punk scene, began in the late 70's ..

  • Urckrecords, your small-minded perspective is what sucks. The 80's were far more than "reverb". Step away from your self-aggrandizing closed-loop microphone of 80's Expertise, and I promise you the reverb won't be half so bad. Killing Joke happened to have a couple of facets they needed to explore, and this era is intrinsic to their canon. Thank-you.

  • I actually agree with you dickhead, thanks for the insult though, I don't get enough of that on a daily basis

  • calaverasgrande, You obviously have no idea of what it is to be a musician. The only person that you have to be true to is yourself. What you feel escapes from you and fuck what abybody else thinks about it. Brighter Than a Thousand Suns is one of the best albums of the 80's and God bless KJ for being true to their feelings when recording this album.

  • THIS SONGS ARE SO EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL.. people can have different opinions.. but this stuff comes from the young hearts of killing joke and is pure romantic and visionary rock..i played this as my good night album and falled into pleasant dreams always! <3 KJ FOR EVA!!

  • i will die with Killing Joke's songs on my lips!

  • @jaroussky1 Brilliant!

  • @jaroussky1 couldn't have said it better.

  • one of my favorites songs ever! so deep...

  • Gorgeous!!!

  • no, your comment is weak.

    just listen again, please.

  • OK I listened again, thats 4:41 of the most embarassing recording ever offered by KJ. I have the first 5 albums, on vinyl. Some of my favorite music by any band. This 'song' does not deserve to bear the title Killing Joke. If I was Jaz or Geordie I would be ashamed of the record from whence it came. I expect they are judging by their more recent recordings.

  • i don't know......

you have a point there but still.......yes maybe comparing this song to their older stuff it is not so great, but taking it apart, this song only - it is very good.....

    dunno

  • Every K J album has something special about it including BTATS and America Why have so many people written these off when they are all part of the development of what KJ are today

  • i think this is killing joke's greatest song off their greatest album

  • The best!!!! I cry!

  • Me too!

  • this song reminds me of new zealand, where i live, and where Jaz lives

  • great album by kj. very dark synth oriented.

  • Perhaps so sucrée in the chorus, ok, but ¡hey! the begining with jaz "romantic" is amazing..

  • king of punk, punk was a term made up by the media. you are a fool and poser.

  • synthpop was born out of bands like the human league(they coined it), not the uk media papers.

    buy some more neurons, dummy.

  • a punk is a weakling in it's truest meaning.

now an anarchist, on the other hand, I have more respect for them.

  • Whats this? 2 negetive comments you cheeky cunt. You know nothing about music (Human League ripped Kraftwerk )& you know nothing about me . Killing Joke came out of the Punk era so slating me is pointless fuck off & listen to your aha cd!

  • So where were you Oct 3rd 2008? The 80's sucked Killing Joke were the only good thing about it. You have no right to lecture me about anything you synthetic android . I bet you have a crap stereo system

  • @kingofpunk1967 I get the strong impression you have an aversion to melody. I think BTATS is better than most KJ albums with the very obvious exception of "Revelations" & "Extremities....". This particular song suffers from a very dated production & is very much of its time. In terms of melody it's one of the most beautiful they ever wrote. Also if you dismiss Marc Almond/Soft Cell as just a faggy synth band then you haven't heard "The art of falling apart" or "This last night in Sodom!

  • @MisAnnThorpe This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever listened to but nothing can beat their first three albums in my opinion.

  • @rippercreeper i agree fantastic song

  • Concordo: capolavoro. Mi ricorda i migliori Ultravox

  • My favorite!!! The best song of the world!!! Others: "A strange kind of love" Peter Murphy; "Ocean Blue" ABC, "This Love" Cocteau Twins, "1959" Sisters of Mercy, "The portrait" Damned

  • Not their best track, but awesome album

  • Good stuff!
