  • I'm glad they changed the ending and gave Hero a spine

  • this was actually really good (:

this is the first ever modern adaptation of a classic that i liked

it was really fantastic- they did the true play proud

  • wtf? Hero has a backbone in this ? :o

    love it!!

  • Aww I love Billie Piper she's so cute

  • @LittleMissBlondie130 I know ^_^

  • Bestman: Shut up, will you? You're making me nervous

  • *At the alter*

Benedick: Remind me, what are we doing here?

Beatrice: I have absolutely no idea.

    LOL :P :D <3

  • @songsmirth well benedick and claudio are ment to be good friends, and although it's good that she didn't take him back it's not how the story's ment to go :P this is ment to be Shakespeare retold ( in a modern way ) not lets re tell Shakespeare but throw the plot he wrote completely off at the end :P

  • Love it that they start laughing at the alter!!

  • I liked that Hero won't take him back. She could forgive Claudio's action but she never be able to trust him again. She'd never know if he'd turn on her again. One thing that bothers me is that we don't see Don punished. Also, having Claudio as best man makes no sense. It would sadden the wedding to have those two be around each other. B and C weren't best friends before so why now? I could see Hero there but deffinately not Claudio. It throws the whole balance of the movie off.

  • If the Doctor was there, this would have never happened! Never happened! Poor Hero...

  • i absolutely loved it. so brilliant! i think i fancy this version a little bit better. if i were hero i would have ever talked to that bloody imbecile ever again.

  • Why is Rose always on a beach?

  • @mortifiedpenguin01 Hahaha that comment made my day!

  • loved them laughing at the end - such a great way to end a great drama - the only thing that would have made it better would be if hero and claude got back together

this has also made me adore the name hero :p

  • This was great! Thank you so much for uploading it! Damian Lewis gives me such butterflies! Love.

  • This was great! Thank you so much for uploading it! I laughed and laughed! Damian Lewis gives me butterflies. Love. :)

  • That one person that dislikes this is a spasticated frog. :P

  • @MsOrangeication Yes! They shouldn't have the right to their own opinion. .

  • @Songsmirth There shuld only be a like button, if u dont like the video then why u watching it?

  • Ahhhh Billie Piper <3

  • wait a sec...this is a shakespearean comedy; everyone's sposed to get married at the end...what the?

  • Thank you for uploading this! I have to write about this movie for my Shakespeare English Class :/ You really helped me out a lot I appreaciate it =]

  • "Remind me, what are we doing ehre?"

    "I have absolutely NO idea."

I don't think they could have ended this production ANY better!

One of THE BEST modern adaptations of a Shakespeare comedy I've ever seen....simply brilliant!

  • YUK!!!!!!!!!! LOVE X_X AND TOOO MUCH DRAMA O_O

  • This is so fucking awesome. Damian Lewis for the WIN

  • Beatrice and Benedick with Claude and Hero as best man and chief bridesmaid would also have appealed to Shakespeare.

I seem to have missed this entire series - they were incredibly well done.

  • @thallassocracy i missed it too! most of it is up here, on youtube. keep your eyes peeled, i may be uploading midsummer night's dream re-told if it interests you. i dont think that one is up yet :)

  • Love, love, love, love, lovelovelovelovelovelove LOVE this! -3

  • <3

    Thank you for uploading this.

  • "Wrong side."

    "Oh, sorry..."

    xD Aww.

  • "I'm so bored of people using love as an excuse".

    so poignant

  • "Remind me, what're we doing here?"

    "I have absolutely no idea..."

Genius ending to one of the best adaptations of this great Shakespeare comedy; certainly this is the adaptation I watch most...the Branagh I love as well because they stay so true to the text (an d I'm a huge literature and theatre person, so that's a plus for me.)

the update, NOT having the double marrige, fitting modern times (though it IS good it's still implied they'll reconcile, stays reasonably true to Shakespeare.)

  • erm what's the song right at the end - with the trumpets???

  • @sylviart17 The song is from Tom Jones: "It´s Not Unusual".

  • Shakespeares a genius

  • Thank you for uploading these, now just to write my dissertation...

  • 'remind me, what am i going here?'

'i have absolutely no idea.' HAHA, THE ENDING WAS SO FUNNY!

  • i think i'm a wee dumb here... why was it funny? are they getting married?

  • @PrincessSakuraAlways

yeah, they are. And benedick himself cant believe that he's getting married.

  • @B28cjy i knw especially the way they both started laughing!!

  • Thanks for uploading! Loved every bit of it!

    'Coffee... maybe soup...'

Ben doesn't even know what he bought :D

  • omg he looked sooo stupid when he was drunk

  • Thnx a Bunch....! Ive got an exam on thiis...Ive Watched the other version and Now thiis...And its become a bit easier for me to compare the societies n 'all....Thnnnxx!!

  • billie is a good actor xxxxx

  • love the last shot XD I also like the fact that Hero had a mind of her own in this one and didn't just give in to him...although I do guiltily hope that they did some time later XD

  • Thank you for uploading this! :D

  • That was a great show!!! Fantastic!!

  • Love this version and the Emma Thompson version. I like the ending in this one better though purely for the fact that Hero and Claudio don't end up together like they do in the original. I wouldn't marry a guy who treated me that way and I am glad that she didn't.

  • you ruined the ending for meeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

my fault, i know, but still. lol.

  • Lol :L

    Really good vid

better than the other much ado

    Thanks for uploading

    :D

  • thank you so much for uploading =) ive been waiting ages to see this. and it was worth the wait. Damian Lewis rocks and i love his real accent :)

  • This version is nothing like the way Shakespeare wrote it. Its entertaining but if you've seen the original and know the story(we're doing it at school) then it's a disappointment...

    xx

  • i dunno, i've always maintained the true storyline was about beatrice and benedick. the rest is window dressing to facilitate them getting together.

  • I love this so so much!

I prefer the ending in this one to the original because Claudio was really harsh to Hero on their wedding day and she still had to marry him in the orginal. But in this one she doesn't forgive him so easily. But I do really want them to get back together sometime, and from the smile at the end I think they will!

Bea and Ben are so great I love them together! The last line was brilliant.

Thanks so much for this. :)

  • What! they changed it. she's meant to forgive him. The original's better

  • In some productions of the play, they change the ending too.

  • i dunno, it has to fit the times. I've laways thought the forgiveness was cheap in the original.

  • I think it's because people had a different way of thinking back then- in the 1500s, if a lady had slept around, she was seen as vile (by pretty much everyone, not just the men) and people of the renaissance would have approved of how Claudio shamed her- to them it would have been justice and what any honorable man should have done. Nowadays, it's different. I don't think it's because the forgiveness was cheap in the original, but that Hero and Claudio were characters of their times.

  • It's a fair point, but i still think people are basically the same then as they were now.

I mean, humiliation like that wasn't exactly common, or it wouldn't be such a shocking scene, so we know it must be above and beyond the norm.

  • Even her father was quick to accuse her at first as the accusers were a group of high ranking noblemen who were deemed honorable. I really think that people viewed things differently. Back then, obeying your husband was important, now, it's all about equality between the sexes. The scene was meant to be shocking but treated as no less than a woman of loose morals deserved, that's why Leonato said 'If she's guilty, let her die, if she's innocent, I'll give those men what they deserve!'

  • I mean, I was referring to the original version. The one in Shakespeare Retold is different because it is set in the present. In the original, even Beatrice was angry because she felt her cousin was innocent and slandered, but if Hero had really slept around, she would have probably been disgusted with Hero as not being a virgin was seen as a fate worse than death.

  • I don't feel sorry for Don. Hero was Honest with him. Just because he can't handle rejection doesn't give him the right to ruin her marriage to Claude. I could understand if Hero led him on, but she didn't. FUCK DON!!

  • We grow from our mistakes. It was at the very end, when I said those words, "...And when you loved, I was your other wife." I realized that forgivness can overcome all. I also forgave the guy playing him at the same time. It was amazing. I guess what I'm saying is to not judge him too harshly. Jelousy is a powerful thing, and we all do things we regret. In the end though, he realized his mistake and corrected it. He learned from it, and became a better person.

  • I just played Hero in this play at my high school. It was really inresting, because I had a grudge against the guy played Claudio, as well as Claudio the charictor. It wasn't until we finished the first proformance that I realized that people make stupid mistakes. Yes, he absolutely should have taken her aside and talked to her, but he made a mistake.

  • if he truly loved her then he wouldnt have done tht in front of the altar, he cud of just taken her to the side befor the wedding..so meh dont blame her for not forgiving him!

  • In Shakespeare's play, their was a double wedding at the end with Benedick- Beatrice and Claude - Hero. In this one, I know Benedick and Beatrice get married but do Hero and Claude?

  • no, they dont get married just yet.

  • @janistonbest so is this the end or there is more after this which shows claudi9o and hero's wedding??

  • Yeah, i think Jero must have needed a bit of a break from men after what happened!

  • i want her to forgive him. He was a bastard but hes so naive and really does love her. Im too soft tho. I felt sorry for don too x

  • omg that face he does 5:43 "so am i late?"

    is like girl boner time

    :P

  • DAMIAN LEWIS

  • thanks for the upload!!!

  • i always wanted her to stay mad at him. i mean. how can you do that to someone and claim to love them?

  • Thanks for uploading

  • Is it wrong for me to want her to forgive him?

  • well, Shakespeare certainly didn't think it's wrong ;)

  • @HobbitNinj no, she made mistakes too

  • Love It

  • hahah! I love how they just start laughing! :D
