he's an amazing actor, and this shouldn't change anything. Yeah so what, he got upset..but think about it. He's working tons of hours a day, and when he's emotionally and physically into a scene it's difficult to have to start that scene all over again because someone decides to walk onto the set and ruin it. his life isn't easy..and everyone needs to stop saying that they'll never see him in the same way. that's bullshit.

He could be sued for that - words are tantamount to assault at civil law within the tort of trespass to person; which is especially true in this case considering physical violence was imminent.

I get what you guys are saying about getting into character not being easy & stuff but what KILLS me about this FrEaK OuT is that if was on the set for TERMINATOR! It's water under the bridge, Christian Bale said he apologized to Shane the DP and as far as i know they're cool, and he did say he was just bluster and hot air then, whether you believe him or not is up to you. It clear he has quite a temper and unfortunately it manifests itself for the world to see, but i'm pretty sure he's learnt from he's mistakes.

actors and acting, even in a rudimentary way, since they would be working with actors in one form or another and it is the actor who is the canvas on which their work is realized. I am not saying that actors, or anyone else, should hurl obscenities or abuse on people, but we all have a breaking point and we are all guilty of it. Actors who happen to be celebrities, like Bale, are simply convenient targets for us to fire our resentments at, "That rich hollywood actor with all his money..."

Stop pointing your finger and moralizing. Actors, as a group, do NOT think they can abuse people. On the other hand people feel entitled to insult, denigrate, and disrespect actors and their process, either consciously or unconsciously, by treating them like they just part of the scenery. This is why, when I enrolled in the theater program in college, EVERYONE was required to take acting classes, no matter if they wanted to act, direct, make costumes or design scenery; so they could understand

after years and years(oftentimes) of slogging away in theater for no or next-to-no money at all while trying to work a day job, pay their bills and maybe even EAT! And while they're doing all this most everyone around them asks them when they're going to grow up and get a real job? Do you really think christian Bale has all THAT much power to fire a director of photography with the credentials he has? Christain Bale does not have all the power and no one is at the mercy of his whim.

Your opinions on this incident is just another example of the public's love/hate relationship with celebrities and the have-have not mentality. You remark about Christian Bale's millions of dollars and all his power, and therein lies the problem. No true actor, like Bale, earns millions right out of acting school or wherever they come from.
