As a teenager growing up in England in the forties, Jo Stafford was my favorite female singer until I first heard Doris and she immediately replaced Jo as my favorite and she still is to this day
@limey1able I think Doris gives us an amazing interpretation of this great song. One of the best. Jo Stafford is wonderful ... but I'm with you .. Doris is number one on my list ! Thank you .. so happy you enjoyed this great song from Doris !!
@barbra271 I'm happy you enjoyed this. I actually redid the video .. this was one of the first ones I made. I love this song ... one of my favorites. Thank you ... appreciate you watching !!
Well - thank you ... I actually re-did this video. This was one of the first I made so a couple of months ago I did it over. This is one of my all time favorites songs from Doris ... probably in my to ten. Thank you .. i"m really happy you enjoyed it !!
Mine too ... I just re-did this video - this was the first one I made and I love the song so much I wanted to do it a little better. I haven't uploaded it yet. Thanks for watching !!
@resings44 I've just been planning to do this video over.. its like the first or second one I did. This is one of my all time favorite songs from Doris. Just wonderful ! so happy you enjoyed !
I really LOVE her interpretation of this great song. One of my favorite Doris songs ever. This was one of my first video's so it leaves some to be desired but the song makes up for it !! Happy you enjoyed - thank you !
what an amazing era, wonderfully captured. i am a college student and i only watch vintage films, similar to the ones shown here, i always have, they managed to capture a time and a mood perfectly, without bringing it down to the lowest common demoniator.
Mme Day thank you for all the love you gave us and still today you are giving us so much warm with your presence in Carmel in great health at 85.God bless you Mme Day you are one of the greatest ladies of the screen and one of the greatest singers USA gave
What a great concept for this video! And this has got to be the best version of this song that I know. Quite simply, Doris gets more out of a song than the writers even knew they put into it. NOBODY sings as well a she does.
Dayniac4324: Thank you to live again those fabulous moments.Doris Day wasn't underrated, she was a superstar, great lady of the screen, GREAT STAR! top at the box office, Miss Day a great lady, a living legend.I adore her
I'm with you moreno2394 -- she really deserves a special oscar. I don't know that she would go to accept it though. I was so happy she received the grammy life time achievement award this year. She definitely deserved that !
What it is shameful that Academy Awards does not make an special tribute to Miss Day, who is fortunately in great health yet at 84.She is also one of the finest vocalists the States gave.Did you know in her time , she was alwayas voted as the best dressed actress too, great taste, a true great lady
yep the golden era of hollywood. what a voice & funny sweet girl she was...How does the song go "Those were the day" great video & you have made my day.
So true... Rock Hudson, Jimmy Stewart, Clark Gable, Gregory Peck, Paul Newman, Doris Day, Ingrid Bergman, John Wayne... it was the Golden Era... that's why I immerse myself in it and forget about the world of today. I have over 100 movies and most of them are from the 30s to the 60s... mostly stopping at the 50s and they are so great. Doris Day is a HUGE part of the collection co starring with Rock and Jimmy in so many things!
Well - I certainly agree with you. I watch movies from the 30's to the 60's - with a few
newer ones thrown in...but very few.
Last night our college age son watched Collateral with Tom Cruise - I personally have no need to sit for 2 hours watching people getting murdered ! Call me crazy - but I'd much rather watch a GOOD old movie !
Glad you enjoyed this - she's such a great singer in addition to actress - I listen to her music every day !! Yes - I'm a dayniac !
I believe that as time progressed fashions became more "same-sex"! There are some musical performances that occured after 1969 I adore, but much was very bad! I love Doris' music, I wont listen to "beyonce" or "shakira".
For upcoming weekends, I like to plan for the movies to watch. I may get a Bogart, a western or an classic comedy. To be sure, I'll pick one of Clara's flicks too.
myraj34dd. I suspect you are not in the UK if you have a selection of movies to watch, and very lucky.
Here all we have is endless repeats of westerns, second world war and general misery based films. When I say repeats I mean repeats of the SAME films endlessly. One of them, "The Fixer", was shown on TCM no less than 18 times in 22 months and the "Yellow Rolls Royce" 10 times in the same period. My name was well chosen.
Hi! U'r right, I'm not in the U.K. If you're interested, I maybe able to send you a dvd or 2 of some old favorites of mine. I think that I can find some in Wallyworld.
myraj34dd. Thank you for the message and offer of DVDs. It would be nice if you would put them on to youtube so every body could see them. I will try Wallyworld.
There were British TV comedy shows made years ago before the PC freaks took over. Some are now on youtube.
British humour was very bighting then and had lots of double meaning in slang.
Try= "Ever Decreasing Circles", "Hi-De-Hi" and "Uncle Mort".
The last one is a Northern English series in Yorkshire dialect.
My sister Cherri told me about you and your first video so I thought I'd stop on over check it out. I think that you did an awesome job job on it. Good luck and welcome to you tube!
Oh the days before the thieving creeps took over Hollywood when real men ran Hollywood who took care of treasures like Doris Day and protected them, instead of exploiting and abusing them. Those days are gone forever.
great first video, sweetie! i see you have all doris day's movies in the order she made them, and with great pictures. and, by the way, it has been wonderful!
Better than Ethel Merman blasting this through the roof.

As far as I'm concerned - those are the only movies worth watching ! I'd rather watch a
40's movie than almost anything they offer
today...there are a few exceptions ... but very few. Thanks for your great comment - this was one of my first video's so it's a little rough !
