Many comments show that most people don't know what Parkinson's is or what it does to your body. My "educated" guess is Michael is moving around more than WE usually see because he took TOO MUCH medication - probably trying to calm his symptoms, OR he's stressed or nervous. Some of the comments on Stem Cell Research blow my mind! Most who oppose it do so in ignorance. The MJF Foundation wants to use cells of embryos from fertility clinics that are being discarded - THROWN IN THE TRASH!
So that disease is what makes him sort of move around so much? When I was watching the movie about the Pope, it was only his hand going up and down. That's gotta get really annoying though.
It is hell to not have control over your own body. 2 1/2 years ago, I was hospitalized with what was originally diagnosed as advanced Parkinson's. It turned out that what I actually have is a brain tumor, and I still have seizures, even after partial removal and treatment. But when you have absolutely no control over what your muscles are doing, it is scary and frustrating. Michael has a lot to deal with, and I doubt you can ever get used to it.

@adamapp13 MJ is a hero. The government has been funding stem cell research since 2006. The debate was over new embryos versus existing lines, not funding or no funding. New stem cells have been pulled from umbilical cords now and there are many new lines being created bypassing the ethical argument altogether. The problem isn't funding, the problem is false expectations - no breakthroughs yet. I hope that Michael and everyone else who suffers from this terrible disease will know relief soon.

Micahel J Fox is a hero. He has been suffering from this awful disease for almost 20 years, and he is using his celebrity to speak out for those who have no real impact. I am an RN, and I treat patients everyday who have horrible diseases. We could be much closer to finding a cure for these patients if OUR gov't would allocate funds to stem cell research. If we can spend money killing everyday overseas/ spend money to make our CEO's rich, than our tax dollars can be spent in med. research

@adamapp13 And it should be obvious to all that we don't need to harvest babies for stem cells. The umbilical cord has a major amount of stem cells that can be used. Also, we all have stem cells in our own bodies.

@adamapp13 im sorry i am all for finding a cure for disease but ive actually done research on stem cells and they sometimes use aborted babies to get the cells. and as helpful as the research may be i cannot support something so vile. why would kill one person( and yes an unborn baby is a person) in order to save another. that is not Gods intention for us as human beings.

@adamapp13 MJ is a hero. The government has been funding stem cell research since 2006. The debate was over new embryos versus existing lines, not funding or no funding. New stem cells have been pulled from umbilical cords now and there are many new lines being created bypassing the ethical argument altogether. The problem isn't funding, the problem is false expectations - no breakthroughs yet. I hope that Michael and everyone else who suffers from this terrible disease will know relief soon.

@adamapp13 couldn't agree with you more, The US "war machine" is the biggest money drain this country has, and serves no purpose other then to line the pockets of a few. While this country suffers with economic instability and spending cuts are rampant, notice that we are more willing to cut education strip unions then even *think* of reducing the cash flow supporting our global military force.

@adamapp13 The government doesn't want the troops back in America because it would mean more economic crisis due to the fact that America is overpopulated and is going into poverty, And the demand in food would increase! If the government pulled all the troops out from the wars he wouldn't even have enough money for stem cell research, So be grateful for the amounts of funds you have for stem cell research, That's the harsh reality and it would take millions or even billions to bring them back!
