That's awesome. I think I have the correct knee dragging technique but have yet to safely test it until I grab a suit like yours. Exactly how much of your ass is hanging off?
i did that once on my ducati monster back in high school doing 90 ish...i dont remember much of what happened until i was in the helicopter on the way to the hospital....im fine now though and I perfected it since then after i got a new bike. lol
I have the Buell 1200 xbss and i can tell you all the bike is bloody awesome and I ride in the hills in Adelaide and you can lean these things right over without worrying about trying to hang off and knee scrape ...GO TO THE TRACK AND DO IT....
I wish i could do that infront of the police here!! "What's that officer?! I'm sorry speak up my can 5db over the legal limit i can't hear you...sorry what?! Go faster?! ok.."
You don't necessarily need to drag knee at that lean angle. Also, I see you said you could control you bike in the event of a slide. That may be true for the rear tire, but a front tire slide can often land you on the ground. I'm sure you know all this, though. Good choice going Buell. I'm heavily considering a Buell for my next bike. (I've got a dual purpose right now.)
actually an open parking lot is what a lot of riders recommend you learn in. i learned in the canyons, and looking back probably a lot more dangerous than if i got my *knees* wet in a parking lot. i need to sell my monster and get a firebolt! like the front end a tad better than the lightning, but both are so sick!
This is awesome! I'm learning how to knee drag right now. Can't quite get it. I can't lean to the right that well because it feels like I can't control the throttle very well (in the way).
It also feels like I have a lot of resistance leaning a lot, thus hurting my triceps and wrists.
Great vid - nice skills. How long are you legs (pants inseam)? The Lightning is not even that leaned over coming out of the corner and you're still dragging knee! Next time get the sparking sliders...
theres a turbo whistler simulator on the exhaust?

@Dennissays I put just half a cheek off. The most important is the upper body though.

That's not knee draggin'! That's call "stretchin' your groin to get your knee to touch the ground."

Then you come upon a unexpecting rock in the road on a turn, lose control of your bike and fly into a tree or guard rail looking like a road pizza

I think they were* quite aware of the Police car.
If you think they were* doing anything wrong, you most likely need a brain transplant.

Seriously, I cannot think of a dumber place to do that other than in the middle of an intersection. You are going to bust it doing that.
xerycx 4 years ago
I am well aware of the "hazards" in that parking lot, and am able to control the bike in the event of a slide. Thanks for your concern, though!
