  • fuckin CLASS

  • I agree MOONSTOMP, It will not be anything like the gigs they did in late 70s early 80s. Madness, Selecter, Bad Manners , Beat etc are all doing it, i thought Specials had more sense! Aparently not.

  • partytime !!!

  • I cant belive The Specials are gettin back together to embarass themselves next year. I am fuckin gutted about this, they were the best band ever in thier time, they should be rememberd as they were, and whats this about Jerry not playin? You can not have The Specials without Jerry Dammers. This is so sad.

  • if they got jerry dammers i would be on board 100% but without him im pretty suspicious about it too.

  • Bernie Rhodes worked with Malcom Maclaren before the Clash. Some say he invented punk????? Who knows.

Cant wait untill the Specials play Brixton, Thought I would never see the day, only wish Jerry was playing to.

  • From what I've read, the only person who thinks that Bernie Rhodes invented punk is Bernie Rhodes !! But he was one of the ones involved with the start of punk in the UK.

  • Bernie Rhodes was The Clash manager first

  • Got my ticket today for 22 april 2009.Yippeeeeeeeee

  • got mine last week cant fukin wait...

  • give this comment a Thumbs-up

    if you Love Ska :D

  • i adore it :D

  • AA AA AA AA AA AA SKA , Best band inn the world, The Specials, Hope to god they never reform, would be embarassin, THE SPECIALS should be rememberd as they were.

  • The Specials FOREVER!

  • ha this song is the same age as me

  • My German shepherds came running nto the room when Bernie yells, "don't argue!" That's authority!

  • "Bernie Rhodes knows don't argue !!" Thanks to Wikipedia, I've finally found out after nearly 30 years what that was all about !!

  • ok mate, can you tell me what it means!!! me the same 30 years of going bernie who!!

  • This is what it says in Wikipedia -

"The intro to the Specials song Gangsters, Bernie Rhodes knows don't argue, was a reference to him getting their guitars and equipment back after they were confiscated by a hotel in Paris (even though the band had done nothing wrong)."

I have visions of a big ballyhoo in that hotel lobby, and somebody shouting BERNIE RHODES KNOWS DON'T ARGUE !!

  • I forgot to mention that Bernie Rhodes was their manager at the time - 1979ish.

  • watch a video called west side regulators its hilarious

  • i love this song

  • this bring back great memories, i an remember seeing the in Swindon in 1980... fab... try to forget about Swindon though...

  • Great music to do housework too lol

  • Possibly the only worthwhile bit of Ska punk. Lord knows over here in the USA we made it absolutely appalling.

  • a yank rudy that can admit it. i admire you bud.

but yeah to true...i mean come on reelbig fish?

    what a load of bollocks

  • *groans* Man, I don't know where we go wrong exactly... We've got ska that sounds nothing like ska!

  • Best Specials song ever!

  • The Specials were, without a doubt, kings of English ska, not dissing the others but these guys were head and shoulders above the rest, IMHO of course.

  • Was Rico actually in the specials? Forgive my ignorance.

  • he was for recordings and live some of the times but hes was an unofficial member

  • I'm not worthy!!

  • BERNIE RHODES KNOWS DON'T ARGUE!!!

  • BTW: this song is about Bernie Rhodes, who once was manager for both Clash and Specials.

Clash wrote Complete Control about him :-)

  • isnt to the music al capone by prince buster?

  • Love the rude boys; the original 'rude boys' were the 'Teds' who in the mid-50's were lower class youth who took to wearing flash "Edwardian" clothes in stodgy postwar Britain an pissing off the authority. John Lennon was a Ted for a time

  • the original rude boys were from Jamaica...

forget the Teds! they used to beat up punks and rude boys as they emerged in the mid 70s.

Saint Joe Strummer once dressed up as a Ted to watch a rockabilly show in London but was discovered and was beaten up...tells a lot of the "brainy" Teds.....

  • Never said I "liked" the Teds (and God knows why Strummer would do that) it's just I thought the rude boys made up the idea of mocking the upper class, but friggin Teds had the idea first (rather have Rude boys #1!!!)

  • another kind of of ska, explain, nutty boys lol,i must say their first album was good but thats about it.

  • dont even put badmanners and madness,in the same scene as the specials, they were for kids,

    kiddie ska pop music,especially madness,.

  • what are u saying man? madness were not for kids, it was another kind of ska but they were pretty good. However, i prefer the specials of course

  • skinheads are back...... and rude boys

  • awesome simply awesome

  • 1979 fantastic, wish i was there LOL was the dogs bllx

  • oh my god 1979 aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Gansters!!!! The Specials in concert!

  • Gangsters=GOVERMENTS

  • AWESOME, need some of that these days.

  • those were were the days loved um

  • oh my goooooooddddddddddddddddddd!!!!!

  • youth culture was great in them days. now sadly there is none. too much american influence ,that is why they wear stupid hoods and carry knives. There was lots of voilence in this erra, but on the whole there was a code of conduct. today anything goes. i want it and i want it now.

  • k recuerdos de mi juventud larga vida al ska larga vida al Oi!

  • una d las mejores bandas de 2tone k he escuchado

  • The midlands were kicking it at this time. I remember them coming into my mums shop in Leicester to buy clothes for the relese of this their first song to filmed on top of the pops. They are still friends of my mum.

  • ive just read about all these gigs in Horace Panters book 'Ska'd for Life', its a great read

  • Aaaaaaaw! What a babyface Terry Hall is! Wish I'd been old enough to see them for myself when it was all happening.

  • The greater ska band and the greater ska song ! Oi !

  • you are a fanny baws, what a knob, lol.

  • where was you??

  • ..............

  • Deadpan. I think you just don't get it !

  • Terry Hall's very unique voice makes him stand out. Jerry Dammers was impressed with his voice when he was the lead singer for a local punk band in Coventry called Squad when he was just 17 years old! Terry Hall has made over 13 albums with all his bands plus his solo recordings. For someone whom you think has an irrating voice, he obviously has longevity, songwriting talent, and a great voice. I personally love his voice. Nobody sounds like him and his music is also very eclectic.

  • then why are u listening to the song
