I'm 33 and I remember even as a little kid in the 80s (ages 6-10) when this show was aired first run, I DID WONDER about dinousars and humans living together, so even back then there were kids who questioned it. But I think the creators just underestimated the audience and did whatever they felt would tell a story, not caring about more factual details. The stories were good, even if the animation and dialogue were laughably bad.
