"Cosmic Jazz" is scheduled to be released if the proposed anniversary edition of "Perfect Strangers" materializes. It is supposedly included on the 3CD version due out at some point in the future. There is also another unreleased instrumental scheduled to appear as well called "RIJIR" or somethng spelled similarly.
Lord and Blackmore are two musicians that can proficiently play jazz, rock, and classical music. They were listening in music class...and understand the mathematics of music theory.
You know... it wasn't just Blackmore. Let's not forget, he was in a pretty good band here! I reckon Jon Lord never gets the raps he deserves... it's always Blackmore and Paice. They were a great band and frankly, Blackmore lost appreciation of that fact.
I'm a Blackmore and Deep Purple fan. All my live! So very nice to hear this. After a while I can hear it's Blackmore on guitar with his typical licks. Very unique material!
This deserved to be officially released. Who knows, they might have made some new fans.

This is called Cosmic Jazz, and was to be a b-side in 1984. It was withdrawn, but came out on bootleg. Glad you posted it. :)

I can't tell if they're mocking jazz, or just trying to play it better than anybody else.

@49toonster
It just shows the incredible dept of Blackmore and Ian Paice. There's a bit of Mclaughlin/Django/Les Paul/J Beck/Jimmy Bryant in there

@thelearningcenter you forgot Tommy Bolin (oh irony of ironies :))

@49toonster Mockery? Just blowing away on a tune, jazz like, choppin away the roots, draggin out the melody. Funkin up the beat. Playing.

To "Touchudin". This upload is defective. When I get the chance I will re-do it.
If only you could have heard what I originally had tried to post. YOUTUBE disabled the sound on it though.

What's up with the sound from 4:00 on? Which version of Child in Time are you commenting, at least?

@Tochudin
Hi, I was commenting on the live "child" solo on "Made in Japan". It's a shame the site wouldnt allow my full upload.
