I've never seen him live, but TATH was one of my favourite albums - I think I got it in 1971. I still have a pristine copy. My landlady's daughter introduced his music to me in Kirkham, Lancs
I learned this song from my dad years ago... I've never heard it done properly until now. Very different from my version (different key and rhythm). Its like folk chinese whispers.
According to my Auntie, Jonathan played at the club at the top of my street in the early 70's so I got into his music because of her LP's. For years and years I only had a ropey cassette of Twice Around The Houses & Wait Till They Change The Backdrop but a few years ago I managed to find them on a double CD. (Beat Goes On Records if anyones interested in buying it) The video clip doesnt do Jonathans music justice... Hes fantastic! Thanks so much to kellyfan222 for putting this on
i have had this song in my head from way back in the 1970s.i only knew that it was from an lp called twice around the houses . a big thanks for letting me hear it again..Brad
Oh My God!!!!!! Fantastic Been a Fan since 1973 - he is fantastic - saw him many times in Ireland and in the 100 club in Oxford street with Snowy - Johnathan if you read this -Fantastic to see you again - your the best up there with John Martyn, Steely Dan
My Father went up on stage and sung Rock you to sleep with Jonathan,I never thought I'd get into that kind of music but after hearing some more of his songs,I think the lyrics are beautiful.
Thanks for posting this,Ballad of cursed anna is 1 of my fave songs!
my dad whiped out the record 'twice arround the houses' and let me listen to this song. it was just after i broke up with the love of my life Anna (i have her name tattooed on my arm :( ) the lyrics explain my relatonship with me... Kelly... if you get t see this comment, I respect you so very much...
Spine tingling - takes me back 40 years. Bless you Jonathan, and you too kellyfan222 for uploading this.

Fantasicic song by a fantastic singer-songwriter. I usually use superlatives sparingly but in this occassion there is no need to.

I saw Jonathan at the Nags Head High Wycombe in about 1973. Twice around the Houses has remained a favorite album ever since. Nick ZUMA1975
