@gopconservative78 It just so happens that Beat The Time was done with Elmo as a contestant. It was similar to this with Elmo having to find things that begin with "SN." Elmo goes around stealing stuff.
What's that sound? Ah, that would be the sound of impending destruction, Guy.
And you know what's cool? Despite destroying the stage, stealing a cane, and loosing a chained monster on the studio, Cookie was nice enough to say "Thank you." when he was given his prize.
When the locomotive crashes through the studio wall, the lip-synch on Cookie Monster's triumphant shout of "Train!" is a couple of seconds out! It's true; go and have a look. (I'll wait.) :-)
Muppet Wiki has issues. They've been inaccurate on numerous occasions, not to mention it seems like all the true Muppet fans who have ever been online have been blocked from Muppet Wiki at some point...
muppet wiki, like all wikis, is worth fact-checking, but i've found it incredibly helpful. also LOVE that when cookie returns with the train, he has mysteriously acquired a conductor's hat! ONLY the classic-era muppets had such a genius eye for detail. Such good stuff!
The arrow at the 55 second mark may have been a mistake, but I don't think so, because some of the stunts on the classic game show "Beat the Clock" (which this was inspired by) had to be done in less than a minute.
I just learned that "Beat the Time" with Grover is on Old School Volume 2. That's the good news. The bad news is they're inserting it into one of the episodes in place of "Dialing for Prizes Movie". Why that? Why couldn't they have put the former on as a bonus feature? I loved "Dialing..."
funny as hell

If you're finding this on Muppet wiki, then I hate to burst your bubble, but that's just a guess (since there's no first appearance listed on there).
Unless you're looking somewhere else?

Yeah... no offence, but that's just speculation. I mean, if on the boxset it was first shown in this episode, then I can see actual evidence.
wattamack4 2 years ago
Whoops, I meant so say if on the boxset it said that was the first airing of this sketch.

So that's what they mean by "bringing down the house". And I thought Guy Smiley had a hard time when the Count was the guest. Brill.

Well, Guy didn't say to bring 3 things back in one minute. He just said to bring 'em back before the clock hits 0.
