  • funny as hell

  • They don't make shows like this anymore, do they? Everything's perverted now.

  • hehe ever noticed that the SAME train Cookie Monster used in Casey McPhee? LOL

  • This is when it was great....no elmo bullshit to deal with

  • @gopconservative78 It just so happens that Beat The Time was done with Elmo as a contestant. It was similar to this with Elmo having to find things that begin with "SN." Elmo goes around stealing stuff.

  • @gopconservative78 Please don't put bad words on youtube!

  • Me and my Daddy just LOST our mind laughing....when he bursts through the wall with the train...we just lose it every time!

  • What's that sound? Ah, that would be the sound of impending destruction, Guy.

And you know what's cool? Despite destroying the stage, stealing a cane, and loosing a chained monster on the studio, Cookie was nice enough to say "Thank you." when he was given his prize.

  • I have this sketch on "Play Along Games and Songs" on VHS and I still do.

  • omg!! i had this VHS when i was like 7!!! this is classic LOL

  • How did he get a train into the studio without any train tracks? :P

  • @BigEasyWinger

    Skills that kills.

  • If you're finding this on Muppet wiki, then I hate to burst your bubble, but that's just a guess (since there's no first appearance listed on there).

    Unless you're looking somewhere else?

  • Yeah... no offence, but that's just speculation. I mean, if on the boxset it was first shown in this episode, then I can see actual evidence.

  • Whoops, I meant so say if on the boxset it said that was the first airing of this sketch.

  • it's a good thing he didn't think of 'pain' or 'brain'

  • You took my Choo choo train!

  • That's the same train from the Casey Mcpherson skit.

  • Jacks a train just to win a cookie.

  • I would...

  • When the locomotive crashes through the studio wall, the lip-synch on Cookie Monster's triumphant shout of "Train!" is a couple of seconds out! It's true; go and have a look. (I'll wait.) :-)

  • "All aboard for Newark, Chico, and Cucamonga!"

  • Cookie Monster rules! Cowabunga!

  • It's worth anything and everything if you're Cookie Monster!

  • lol

  • Guy Smiley rules all

  • So that's what they mean by "bringing down the house". And I thought Guy Smiley had a hard time when the Count was the guest. Brill.

  • Muppet Wiki says it's from 1973...

  • Muppet Wiki has issues. They've been inaccurate on numerous occasions, not to mention it seems like all the true Muppet fans who have ever been online have been blocked from Muppet Wiki at some point...

  • muppet wiki, like all wikis, is worth fact-checking, but i've found it incredibly helpful. also LOVE that when cookie returns with the train, he has mysteriously acquired a conductor's hat! ONLY the classic-era muppets had such a genius eye for detail. Such good stuff!

  • It IS from 1973.

  • Wait, was Guy Smiley played by Jim Henson or Jerry Nelson? I think it's Henson...

  • That's definitely Jim's voice.

  • I have this one!My bro has this!

  • I thought he would he the train but that was the best bit when he got a train

  • All aboard for Newark, Chico, and Kookamunga! LOL

  • he should have had the milk stunt, what goes better with cookies then milk!

  • The arrow at the 55 second mark may have been a mistake, but I don't think so, because some of the stunts on the classic game show "Beat the Clock" (which this was inspired by) had to be done in less than a minute.

  • Well, Guy didn't say to bring 3 things back in one minute. He just said to bring 'em back before the clock hits 0.

  • I just learned that "Beat the Time" with Grover is on Old School Volume 2. That's the good news. The bad news is they're inserting it into one of the episodes in place of "Dialing for Prizes Movie". Why that? Why couldn't they have put the former on as a bonus feature? I loved "Dialing..."

  • 0:45 - Best reaction ever from Cookie Monster!

  • Man...Guy Smiley REALLY needs a stress pill!

  • Wasn't this the first appearance of Frazzle?

  • I think so.

  • I love the idea that someone keeps him on a chain somewhere. XD

  • brings back childhood memories....

  • Old Guy: "Is this Beat The Time???" LOL!

  • and get rid of elmo's woprld and add more skits

  • I wouldnt get rid of it alltogether..but I see no need for it being in EVERY Episode...

  • Love the reaction from Cookie Monster at mark 0:45 - something you'd rarely hear from Cookie Monster!

  • Sesame Street needs to show more chaotic features like this . . . AND LESS ELMO AND MR. NOODLES!!

  • Amen !
