  • That chick has some RIDICULOUS upper body strength.

  • At 4:23 and 5:23, I could hear the sound of the sword clanging and who put the lightsaber sound effects in this scene?

  • @Naminski1a I did the whole project, including all the sound effects. And you are correct that the sword clanging bled through in those places; in both instances, I was trying to preserve as much of the Kurgan's bellowing as possible.

  • At 0:45 in this scene, his lightsaber is uncolored.

  • @Naminski1a That's not his blade, that's the cable he was sliding down. From the position of the sword's hilt, his blade was above the camera frame in this shot.

  • Great video... enough sad. Thanx for making it!!!

  • Awesome!

  • You need to render the whole project in 24 frames per second and add more motion blur to the lightsabers so they don't seem to be on top of the video, but part of it. And may I recommend motion tracking to assist in some of your shots? The blades seem to move around the sword instead if replacing it. Just some handy advice from someone who loves lightsabers.

  • You must do the same for Highlander 2 The Quickening.

  • @Batesmotel1960 Highlander what?

Son, you can't just make up movie names like that.

  • So epic!!! You know what? You need to do the same for Highlander 2 The Quickening, you need to blend in that one as well!!!

  • This is great, it lends itself so perfectly to lightsabers!

  • OUTSTANDING!

  • @horaciosi Thank you. :-)

  • given how the effects played out when the swords hit anything but eachother, the lightsaber effect was a good touch lol

  • Awesome! The way that the lightsabers reflect on the wet flor! That's a labor of love. This video is going to my Favorites!

  • @Likodemus Thanks! :-)

  • 1:10 NO you silly girl! its EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECK

  • you should do the same in starwars

  • This is one of the greatest videos I have ever seen. You took two of my favorite series and just made my day. Great effects, extreme attention to detail...I just got done watching the original ending and noticed that you even put a little bit of a green glow into Kurgan's eyes just before the decapitation. I can't say enough, but for people who notice the details....this is stunning.

  • @zcal0221 Thank you very, very much. You're the first person to notice the green saber reflection in his eyes (at least, the first to speak up) -- that makes my night. :-)

  • Where did you get the soundtrack for the final "lightsaber" battle?

  • @horaciosi I got them from the 2-disk "Highlander" Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. They came from tracks 6, 7, & 8 from the 2nd disk -- "Battle on the Silvercup Sign," "Kurgan Vs. MacCleod," and "Kurgan's Quickening."

  • Could you put more sword fight scene with lightsabers, please?

  • Comment removed

  • As a fan of the STAR WARS (primarily) and Highlander sagas, I approached this with a bit of skepticism... But I have to say, this came out TOO DAMNED COOL.. Very well done! I've seen similar vids trying to incorporate lightsaber effects, and sounds but, they look inferior to this. The Jedi, Sith, McLeod's, and Kurgan's (as well as I) give you a WELL DESERVED nod in your direction. (Applause, cheers and whistles).

  • @modsleix6 Thank you very much! :-)

  • If anyone here plays Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, is it me, or does the evil guy look like a male version of Tavion? :O

  • Wow. It's like this fight was meant to have lightsabers. Awesome!

  • Excellent work! My compliments, sir. It conjures images of what the Early Republic might have been like.

  • This was amazing, great work!!! What an awesome lightsaber the Kurgan's sword made.

  • i love the highlander movies. the 3rd and 4th one r my fav. didnt like the 5th one at all. i heard they r making a remake of it

  • That has to be one of the best videos on Youtube. What a great edit of an already great scene. In my opinion, the lightsaber effect really adds something very special here. 1st class, top notch, awesome stuff... you name it!

  • @Shodan1440255 Thank you very much. :-)

  • Another great video. It would be cool if at the end of the film Sean Connery showed up as a force ghost

  • @Bladerunner93 Well, he did kind of show up as a Force "voice" at the very, very end -- that's pretty much in line with Obi-Wan in the original "Star Wars." :-)

  • That was AWESOME.

  • @bluedeath911 Thanks! :-)

  • Great job ,man. It enhances that clip on so many levels.

  • @Bladestar7 Thank you. :-)

  • you live in astoria queens

  • @KenneWilleJ1102 ... Long Island City :)

  • outstanding!!! Off the wall!!

  • @17jflor Thank you. :-)

  • It's a pity there aren't enough Highlander fans to give you the praise you deserve!

  • @jdude907 Thanks!

  • @jdude907 there were until the series became a joe thans to the terrible sequels... but msn the first movie is awesome and this is really really awesome

  • Another great work..! Plus, the color switch from blue to green recalls the change of Luke's lightsaber from "The Empire Strikes Again" to "Return of the Jedi"..

  • @TwirlinLemur You mean "The Empire Strikes Back."

  • again well done!!! just fantastic really, great eye for details!!

  • @minneyarthorn Thanks!

  • this is way better than a lot of movies with a big budget! Way to go!!

  • @lecem Thanks! :-)

  • The lightsabers fit the scene so well it's hard to believe that this wasn't filmed without them.

  • I think george lucas is going to sue somone LOL :jay and silent bob stricks back

  • @TheJackl317 :-)

  • in reality there are far too many sparks from the swords in highlander but with lightsabers involved it makes perfect sence now lol, once again stella work better than the first and reflections are spot on

  • omg lightsabers fit this scene sooo well

  • The movie helps make the lightsabers seem more real because of all the sparks. Very nice.

  • Tis is fuckin' awesome. Love the reflections on the floor. eye for detail.

  • @robertoxmaynard Thanks! :-)

  • After see this, I HAVE GOT TO GET BACK INTO EDITING!! LOL

  • Top Quality Stuff Dude !

You should get a job in special effects for movies or sumthin.

  • @DarthScosha Thank you very much. :-)

  • This is amazing! You did a great job. Absolutely fantastic!

  • @AngusTheRockGod Thanks! :-)

  • @actorwriterdca and I'd still love to see more. Only if you wanted to make more. This was my favorite fight in the movie so this was great.

  • @AngusTheRockGod I had considered doing the Kurgan-Ramirez fight ... until I realized that, at the climax, the Kurgan *grabs Ramirez's blade* in order to strike the winning blow. Now, I can sort of side-step their lightsabers not penetrating the occasional steel bar, but human flesh??? LOL

I'll be doing at least one more mash-up sooner or later ... but it won't necessarily come from "Highlander." :-)

  • @actorwriterdca haha yeah I spose haha.

  • @actorwriterdca the bar scene in crouching tiger hidden dragon? :D

  • Hmm ... ;-)

  • Absolutly fantastic Chris, you just made my year, i'm so glad you did this as I have waited ages, very well done !!!

  • @ROVER25X Thank you! :-)

  • Cool man, but I wonder why you went with a green saber instead of a blue one like he had at the start of the movie?

  • @GreenFenril That's the first question I answered in my FAQ. :-)

Q: Why did you change MacLeod's lightsaber from blue to green?

A: I originally intended to use the same blue from the first "Immortal Jedi." But when they fell down into the empty warehouse, the bluish lighting made the blue lightsaber look just kind of plain-white in some shots. Funny enough, Luke's blue saber against the blue Tatooine sky is the main reason it was changed to green in "Return of the Jedi." :-)

  • @actorwriterdca

Yeah, I just read it when I saw it :P

But dude you need to have the Conor, Duncan fight from Highlander: Endgame

  • Outstanding!

  • Holy shit!!! that was awsome. How many hours did it take you to complete this video?

  • @TheNewRiflemanBob I estimate it took me about 100 hours spread out over 2 months -- I pretty much worked on it between my daughter's naps, feedings, and diaper-changes. :-)

  • @actorwriterdca you have a kid. Congrats :)

  • @TheNewRiflemanBob Thanks! :-)

  • better than episode one

  • This was an epic fight scene in the movie. I like how you changed the color of Connor's saber from blue, in the first one, to green.

  • Wow mate, Really great work, i hate rotoscoping, takes a lift time.

Seen so many people rip old films and turn them into a lightsaber fights, this has to be the best one i've seen.

    10 out of 10 mooosh :)

  • @charleyboy74 Thank you so much! :-)
