Often you'll hear Bach go deeper till u discover ur still listening 2 Telemann! Mendelssohn 2 curb Bach had a standing ovation 4 Bach greatest genius and they'd been listening 2 Machet die Tore Weit by Telemann. Soon as science found out people forgot the work. Prelude+fugue? no Telemann! But no JS Bach eather! Try this1: Still wie ein Lamm 1759 by Telemann and NOT getting tears! 2 my opinion, JS Bach further on can go 4genial but I call Telemann the most sympathetic composer.
I've heard all Telemann's Major choral works...I like his orchestral writing (like the piece here), but he doesn't go deep enough for me, as deep as Handel and Bach...keep in touch with my channel, because I'm going to upload some great Handel choral works today or tomorrow....
Well, yes, people use to agree by saying some Telemann's works are not as "deep" as Bach or Handel used to do, specially Telemann's passions in comparison with Bach's. I think Telemann was a little more bohemian, musically speaking, and I see his work rather heterogenic in some spots. Definitely, another way of begin a great musician that brought us good pieces like this.
Telemann is still a great composer, even if he can't reach the heights of Bach's St John and St. Matthew Passion...I can't imagine Telemann reaching the heights of Bach's "Herr Unser..." for chorus (St John Passion)!!
Hm, I don't agree with that, since I don't consider Telemann less in musical terms. However, little chorus pieces are better than "Herr unser Herrscher" for me, too. :)
You see, I've always wondered how would Telemann's Magnificats sound :D. I guess it's almost impossible not to compare them with Bach's Magnificat, one of my favourite musical works.
some rock group should play and sing it - Coldplay? come on Chris!

in that age, people didn't have Ludwig Van Beethoven, they already had Telemann!

I would very much like to know the identity of the superb baritone who sings this difficult aria.

We're both right! We just agree to differ. I like Bach's large scale choral works.

Have you heard Telemann's two Magnificats? They're quite good...I'll upload extracts from them, one day...
