@drummerzachb888 mine only cost about $70 to start, and to maintain, idk. most people who know how to do hair, can re-twist for you. starting is the part that needs the salon people the most.
this chick put way to much product in his hair. All that black gel gonna flake right off and its gonna be in his dreads. I had a loctitian use that on mine and i was washing itout forever. to much product when obviously he doesn't need it.
two questions: is it truew you cant wash your hair for like three months after you do this?
second question: im a balck guy and im in a band and i want hair i can head bang with :) like stuff that moves so i assume my only two options are dreads or micro braids i was wondering how long my hiar has to be to get micrbraids. its about a 1-11/2 inch fro right now.
@casanovakid55 You can get away with the not washing if you use essential oils diluted in water and spray it directly onto your scalp, then very lightly massage your scalp. I did this for the three-month period of initial locing to keep my scalp as clean as I could and to especially keep any funk down, as I HATE the smell of dirty hair!! When my stylist washed my hair, she was surprised because when that warm water hit the hair and scalp, there was NO stench, just essential oil smell.
That is a lot of product she used in his hair. He will be washing it in a matter of a week or two. Natural products or very lite weight products should be used and not gels or waxes. I won't be going to that shop.
wow WAY too much gel was applied, lol and the sad part is hes still gonna be washing that out of his hair months, even years from now. once you put something in your locks and it becomes imbedded in the core of the lock, it STAYS there. If you're wondering why your locks don't smell "clean" after a wash, its the buildup, it's not your fault, switch locktitions. That's why i stress natural products because theyre easier to wash out and they moisterize the hair and scalp.
@peachesandsunshine9 I found that out the hard way, too. The first time I tried to clarify my hair, I kept getting product coming out of my locs. It took me a couple of good washings over the next month to remove ALL buildup. I found the key for my hair was once the buildup was loosened and coming out of the locs, RINSE, RINSE, RINSE, and SQUEEZE, SQUEEZE, SQUEEZE!! LOL If your locs are heavy after a washing and conditioning, they STILL have buildup!!
Beautiful, natural locks! At least you know how to lock hair; however, others are using a crochet needle and styling gel. Their way breaks the hair!
People be careful in letting someone "lock" your natural hair. They ain't doing it correctly. Ask them to show you the products they use. Read the ingredients! Use NATURAL ingredients; nothing with alcohol.
I custom make 100% afro kinky human hair dreadlock extensions in all colors, shapes and lengths that will cut your installation time in half using the crochet hook method. This is for those who want permanent dreads without investing a lot of time and patience waiting for your hair to grow. If you are interested please email me your address. email: ambeysnaturalroots@gmail.com

hmmm, baby dreads... i'm not a hair expert so i have no idea but it wouldn't be impossible. i think the back-combing method would be the way to go for you... and locking wax. you'd just have to make sure you take extra care of it til it locks.

Eh, it's too much work to get dreadlocks done. Also, the only way to get rid of them is to cut them off. I rather stick with braids and wearing my hair loose.
actually if you're patient enough, you can comb them out. it's really not that much work. it all depends on how many locs you have... braids are cool too though
@YungReg88 its a process like any other hair process...you can take your dreadlocks out...my brother had locks was down his back, and after 45 hours of his wife going through a process of fine combin it out, he was lock free...But I had 18 years of brading my hair and now going on two years with my locks and loving it...its the same work to sit and get your hair done...once your hair is locked why would you want to take them out?
If I want to take my dreadlocks down, I'd have to cut my hair off? I don't have dreadlocks, I wanted them. But if I grow tired of them, then I would want to take them out. I wouldn't want to cut my hair just to get rid of the dreads. So would I really have to cut my hair off, if I had dreads?
you can comb them out using massive amounts of conditioner... or you can leave them alone and let your hair grow without retwisting them and then get them cut where they matte (growing is a long process lols) or you can jus cut them all off and start fresh... :)
I have had dreads before, but had to cut them off. They were about the leangth as in this video. I want them back again so bad. But when I started mines, my hair was about 8" all around. I was wondering what is the shortest leangth I could start the dread process again? Also, I did 1" sections using the back comb method, how big were his sections and what style did you use? I have straight soft hair. Love the way his dreads look! Thanks and can't wait to hear back, thanks!
If not permed yes. and if too curled it could be to but with more work and the maintenance won't be easy to. Yes Caucasians can have dreadlocks also. to start, you simply need to buy the right hair cream for that.
im not saying anything but i learned that black hair is more resistant to this than caucasians and thats y caucasian hair falls out after a while...is that true?
one one side, yes black hair are more prone to give fast result because of its natural texture, but I have seen a lot of Caucasians with great dreadlocks and some good examples will be Rastafarian mulattoes.
@sitangyn im not sure if anybody answered u yet, but no. all hair can loc up, if left alone. i think it's juss how u take care of ur hair. anybody can have beautiful, healthy dreads. dont be discouraged. :)
well....honestly, it depends on what brown gel u use. As a matter of fact the cheap stuff flakes up really bad and cause irritation to the scalp. A good brown protein gel can achieve such results. With that being said....Ur work is great Express Braiding!

@sitangyn hair falls out after a while beacause of 3 possible options:
1) you r getting old (yes black people also lose hair when they get old, evryone does
2) you have a disease, you dont take good care of your hair and scalp
3) you wash your hair to much, you use stuf like style heat iron ... rly bad for your hair
washing your hair to much is bad, and if you dont do the soap out of it, it gets even worse
