That's my Uncle's band he's playing with. The guy in the green button up is my uncle/namesake Roger. G.E. is hilarious and really nice. I love his accent also.
This is his Signature model, not in production by Fender. GE told me it is a one of a kind 1952 model. The ones available from Fender are not available in this color.
Its nice to see an artist actualy playing his signature guitar. Most of the time they get together with a company, produce a guitar, and never play it - instead, returning to their old favourite.
Are you sure this is the Signature Model? I thought it had the bridge pickup screwed right onto the wood instead of the extended iron 'ashtray' you'd normally see as a Telecaster bridge. And I thought they only came in red. Or did GE Smith design two guitars for Fender? The one in this clip looks like a regular Tele to me.
It's a cool thing, this cold-on-wood construction. GE Smith's lecture on the origin of this idea (it's on old Fender lap steels as well), inspires me to one day build a Telecaster lap steel model all by myself.
Everybody interested in real passion for guitars should check GE Smith's own Youtube video on his own signature Telecaster guitar.

He is sooooo good! Too bad he was so underrated in the 80's. Got a great blues-rock sound.

Great version of that song, and a really soulful solo the first minute or so. G.E. always looks like he's having a blast.

it looks to me like that bridge pup is right in the wood, and his sig model comes in blonde aswell as red.
i could be wrong though, because I can't tell for sure if that pup is right in the body.
