  • I wish I could find more videos of these things. I love Gulper Eels! :) I wish I could see one up close, but I'm to afraid to go all the way down to the ocean floor. Long story. ;) lol

  • @cobraqueen65 I agree! i love gulper eels! :)

  • E del Sagrì nero che mi dici? Vivono nel mediterraneo, ma non riesco a trovarne neanche un video!

  • that's one UGLY fish !

  • @PaNdeM0niuM NOOOO NOT THE UGLYIES! NEVER THE UGLIES! ugh.

  • GULP!

  • wtf is boo the world's cutest dog doing in the relate videos?!!!!!!

  • @Saxand fascinante el mundo de las criaturas abisales ;D me encantan!

  • What is the size of this fish?

  • @utaka78 you're son is smart btw

    this fish is awesome lol

  • its huge!!!!!!!!

  • DOING APROJECT ON IT AND TRYING 2 FIND OUT HOW 2 DRAW 1!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP ANYBODY?!?!

  • indeed deep sea creatures are the scariers and most deathly animals for that environment, I hear once the deepest in the sea the more bizarre and/or poisonous the specimen might be, just imagine what other creatures the camera or human lens haven't caught yet

  • @duranls1 Deep sea creatures actually arent dangerous. To us anyway. The anglerfish (probably the most famous biolumenecent fish) is only six inches long. This eel is only a few feet long. It couldn't eat a human. Even if it could, no human can dive that deep without a pressure suit.

  • @zanzell well actuaqlly didn't mean they could eat a human, but I mean the venom some of the species store, not necessarily the Anglerfish, but also remember the ancient shark they found in Japan about 3 or 2 years ago, if that shark could survive who knows what other species considered extinct still out there

  • ll at the end xD NOM!!!

  • aaaand I am scared to swim now.

  • @deathrifle it lives in the deepest depth of the ocean, if you try reach its sea level you will explode

  • @z1z2z3z4anthony No, quite the opposite. You wouldn't explode, you would be crushed by the immense pressure. However, if you dove deeper and deeper you would most likely freeze to death first.

  • @deathrifle They arent dangerous. Also, if they leave the depths, they die!

  • oh ma fucking good, holly shiiiiiittt, i dislike water T_T and the things that live in theree..

  • Awesome...but creepy

  • Magic School Bus anybody?

  • This is literally my worst nightmare, well, next to parasites.

  • gulp

  • My dad caught one when he was deep water trawling for orange ruffy way off the west coast of Ireland a few years ago.

  • This is just a quick snack for me. I went on later in the day to cold down a Humboldt Squid and several cast extras on the set of Spongebob Squarepants.

  • I've always been fascinated by things deep in the ocean. This is no exception.

  • totally forgot about these things until i remembered it was what i put for G in my ABC under the sea book in 2nd grade

  • Dsl?

  • wouldn't want to be that fish

  • why not lol

  • because its getting eaten up by the ugly eel

  • What do you think a Gulper Eel would taste like?

  • If it was possible, i'd buy 1 as a pet!

  • @zanzell Lol! If i were to have any scary ass pet, I'd want a lantern fish. No need to buy nightlights anymore :D xD

  • lantern fish arent that scary. I mean, they dont have huge teeth.

  • @freefreakster Same deal with this awesome animal. It actually has a red light on the end of its tail.

  • @zanzell Oh. I think I'd still prefer a Lantern fish xP I'd be sleeping with nightmares each night LOL. Scare the bajeezes out of all my friends and all hahaha

  • cant see shit

  • wat is the song?

  • The ocean is out to get us.

  • gulper eel is badass

  • the mouth of this animal reminds me of orga's mouth when he tried to swallow godzilla and failed

  • What sond is it? It's great. Cool video as well.

  • Gulper Eels are love <3 There so cute :3

  • i love learning about the abyss~ :D So many cool interesting creatures that are yet to be discovered!!!

  • OH GOD WHAT

  • wow! i would hate to be in the water with that UGLY thing!!!

  • My favorite animal for sure :D I have a tattoo of a gulper eel planned

  • Holy Crap that is fricken awsome! Rated 5/5!

  • its cute when it has its mouth closed and its eyes are cute too :D but damn if i ran into that in the dark ocean.. D:

  • @TwilightSesshomaru o noes!

  • i saw this last week in my 9th grade biology class

  • 1 this is the best thing ever

2 i bet it can seriously take a dick

  • ive been fascinated since 2nd grade when i saw 1 in an encyclopedia

  • @mexicansilentpanther Looks like you and I are going to be aspiring marine biologists

  • @mexicansilentpanther I discovered the guper eel in 2nd grade as well. That's when I became facinated with the ocean, deep sea especially. If i didn't read that book, I might not be a marine biologist now!

  • @mexicansilentpanther lol I've been fascinated by gulper eels since prep when I saw 1 in an encyclopedia :D and now I'm 12 turning highschool :P

  • @mexicansilentpanther same here

  • @mexicansilentpanther yeah when I was in the 2nd I went to monerey bay aquarium and they had a toy gulper eel along with a book that had one in it and ever since then Ive wanted to see one

  • i love gulpereels. theyre so friggin cute :D

  • This creature scares me!

  • Gulper eels are such majestic creatures!

  • lol the expression on the fish XD

    OH SHI-

  • How does it release wastes? Like, ya know, poop?

  • How do you think?

  • the fish is probably digested enough for that not to be a problem

  • Is it possible for it to swallow a human (i know we can't go that deep, but if we could)?

  • no. fully grown gulper eels range from 2 to 3 feet so a human would not be an easy down despite their hinged jaw and accommodating stomach. as long as your not a legal midget i would not be worried about this animal

  • even if it could you would burst out of it body

  • this is my favorite swimming sea creature

Lobsters and other crustaceans are awesome too

  • i know their the best

  • When i was..probably six seven years old I found this book, kinda thin, with just..big...drawn colour pictures of weird fish, this amongst them. Been fish fascinated ever since but this is one of those that made the greatest impact on me, together with the Oarfish.

    /end of fish nerdery

but seriously this is just so fascinanting and amazing

  • My son (4.5y) ist totally fascinated by the gulper eel, it's his favorite animal ;D

  • lol when I was that age I used to love em

  • @utaka78

I have to do a presentation about the gulper eel

  • As a little kid, I saw these on TV, i was terrified to swim for months.

  • Gulper eels give me the creeps. Nothing against them of course, they're remarkable, but boy my blood ran cold when I first saw this on The Blue Planet.

  • well, ur in luck, they live WAY deep in the ocean

  • This is scary as fuck. In fact, the whole ocean is pretty fucking scary when you go down far enough. All black, with monsters everywhere.

  • wow, what a BIG mouth for a eel

  • I used to have nightmares about those things.

  • I adore this species!

  • awesome cute and scary well not cute cool more like it

  • how large are they compared to a human? if they're much larger then us i'd be like 'shit!'

But if they're small then 'lol'

  • well they are up to 7 feet long

  • this creature is so weird! lol imagine coming face 2 face with 1... but even though they are so strange and different, i really like em... i like blue whales for the same reason really.. They're magnificent and no one knows much baout them

  • yuck! that is really ugly.. :p

  • That eel looks pretty dangerous and frightening...5km below the sea...creatures of the dark abysses are monstrous (anaplogaster, eurypharynx...)

  • It looks sort of computer generated, but I wouldn't be suprised if it were real.

  • My friend asked me what the difference was between a eurypharynx and a saccopharynx. I told him that they are both a species of gulper eel but sometimes the saccopharynx is called the swallower. I also told him that the saccopharynx has teeth that are more pronounced and has more of a crescent moon shaped mouth.

  • from sir david attenborough documentary, my fav doc guy

  • Lol, I'm having a hard time believing this is real too. ^____^; But it's cool either way.

  • gulper eels are real, theres a vid in related called "Strange fishes after Tsunami" its the very last picture.

they are deep sea creatures, no one has seen them because most deep sea pods implode under the immense pressure.

  • Lol, I know they are real. I took a Marine Science class in high school. lol, and they're in the game Endless Ocean too (though they look fake and stupid). ^____^;;

But what I meant was that I don't think that the thing in the vid above is a real gulper eel. Like some of the other people commented below me, I think this was done in 3D. =\

  • i DONÄT THINK SO THEY LOOK COOL

  • And if you COULD bring one of these eels to the surface, it would explode because of the cellular pressure needed to live in the deep sea.

  • not true, first of all, they would implode, (not "ex"plode);

and in the video "Strange Fishes after Tsunami", there is a picture of one.

and i think you were referring to the deep sea jellyfish, which dissolve when the surface pressure is too low

  • gulper eels rock they're so awesome!

  • Footage is clearly computer animated, it's a shame though, real video of a Gulper Eel eating would be beyond fascinating.

  • No, it's actually not. Shot with high quality cameras, I swear.

  • It's true. It's from the Multi-part documentary from BBC called, Blue Planet.

  • This is real, i recognise the clip, i'm sure. It's from David Attenborough's "the deep"

  • was that real or computer animation?

  • It's real; I've taken this clip from a documentary.

  • really, which one?

  • No; I've taken this clip from the BBC's documentary "The blue Planet".

  • ok. i'm just saying they used a computer for this scene though becuase there is no way they got footage like that. i believe that it came from "the blue planet" i'm just saying they used cgi

  • @Saxand

Ma io mi chiedo: come cavolo han fatto a firlmarlo se vive negli abissi oscuri? Cioè, la luce della telacamera non dovrebbe spaventarlo e farlo nuotare via? Comunque è una specie bellissima!

  • @Saxand I knew that looked familiar. This is actually CGI. I recall then say that there was no actual existing video of the Gulper eel, This video was just a speculation of the actual form.

  • Wow...the sea is home to so many amazing animals...btw NICE VIDEO :D

  • What is that song???

  • It's the opening theme of the famous 1984 TV miniseries "Visitors: The Final Battle".

  • thank you
