  • I dont understand what is happening anatomically?

  • instead of pinching your knees together can you also just make a figure 4 with your legs?

thats how i was taught but this is new

  • Audio transcribe says "moses boyfriend mohair." @ 0:14

  • nice vid stephan

  • 121 kurt angles vs 1 justin beiber

  • @TheFalconPoke You are not being clever, amusing, or interesting. This fad wasn't funny the first time it happened, and it won't ever be.

  • As a karate guy I have to say....lovely stuff, really nice!

  • good vid-will try to use any chance i get ;)

  • What martial arts is this?

  • @K7Z947 Jujitsu

  • @K7Z947 The greatest art of all BJJ.

  • @IamVeryFrozen For better ankle locks learn Sambo.

  • @IamVeryFrozen I disagree because the best art is the that teaches you to " do whatever works for the situation". Not all situations should be fought on the ground.

  • @littleismail What the hell makes you think that BJJ only addresses only ground situations? Jiu Jitsu is a complete art that has weapon defenses, standup aggression defenses and ground work. The difference is that Jiu Jitsu's strategy is to be on the ground most of the time, that is why takedowns and ground work has a lot of enfasis.

  • @K7Z947

To be more specific this is more Sambo than Brazilian Jiu jitsu.

  • @mikey4u1984 Not true, Jiu Jitsu has heel hooks, toe hold locks, straight footlocks and other locks.

  • @K7Z947 It's used in ju jitsu, but also in traditional judo - it's included in one of the katas but not allowed in modern judo contest rules.

  • Thank you very much for this. I have all of youe iPhone apps and watch your videos every week.

  • what was that sweep called that u did after he stood up. thanks

  • im pretty sure that my opponent is not gonna like to apply the scissors to him.. i think its gonna make him madder

  • great!

  • this move saved my life the other day. i don't know much about grappling other than this move and armbar. going to take jiu jitsu classes now.

  • in an IBJJF comp, wouldnt you be DQ'd for the outter leg position at the :40 mark? or no because the toes are pointed out?

  • perfekt

  • My favorite and most successful move! I love the straight ankle lock!

  • I really like to use the achilles lock, thank you for showing the mistakes, really useful

    5/5

  • @1:20 when you shoot for the takedown, wouldnt you be letting your opponent triangle choke you? how can i defend against the possible triangle choke?

  • @temeadler As you can see, he's holding the leg from outside, but if you try to do a inside hold it may be harder to the defender hit a Triangle Choke on you. But also, a outside hold can be the opening for a kneebar, for the attacker (you).

    Great question dude!!

  • @alepiresjr thanks a lot man, im no jiu jitsu expert, but im going to analyze the possible opening for the kneebar, it's amazing, good to know

  • great vid!

  • Lol the sweep is beast!!!

  • haha that sweep at the end was sick

  • Not bad.

  • sweep at the end was slick

  • so a heel hold is another version of an ankle lock?

  • @Stoane81 not really. as far as a i know, a heel hook is done by placing your forearm and your bicep around someone's heel, then by twisting his foot and thus his lower leg, the knee joint will eventually pop.

  • I used to train with BC and he says the best place to do it is right underneath the calf muscle.

  • Nice explanation mate, appreciate it!

  • kinda funny, because even if i roll with very good people.. that are better ... the only way they manage to submit me is with those fucking ankle locks! hehehe..

Any nice idea for escapes? url? need to practice escapes before my match.. i feel this is a very important thing for me to learn before my match.. cause i tap like a baby on footlocks =p

  • 4th most common mistake - falling on your back and not over your shoulder. If you fall on your shoulder you have more leverage to arch your back and finish the submission.

  • THATS WHY I COULDNT GET IT!! I always thought I had the ankle in the wrong position, I forget to pingch my knees. Thanks man.

  • i was in a tourny today and could not finish this submission everytime i tried it they would all ways roll me to my stomach and there foot would eventually slip out of the lock. i think this vid will help tho thanks

  • good work man

  • Some really good tips man. This is the kind of stuff that's really interesting. Thanks!

  • Thanks for posting this - it's great to be able to see these locks applied and watch over and over until the steps really flow.

  • Your videos are badass. Period. Just thought you should know that.

  • great sweep from the stack

  • im gona do this to my friend when we roll

  • please be careful, 50% of the bones in your body are in the ankle.

  • haha no, there's only 14 bones in the ankle.

  • i must have been thinking of the wrist. but still the pain receptors in your leg jionts dont work the same as elbo's or shoulders so when training be careful not to pop ur oponetns knee's or somthin.

  • no, you're probably thinking of the foot which has like 30 bones or something ridiculous like that. the achilles won't pop anybody's knee joint though because it isn't a twisting lock. you still need to be careful because it hurts a whole hell of a lot and in general it's good to be careful when applying any leglocks, but heelhooks and toeholds etc are much much worse than the ankle lock.

  • Perhaps referring to the twisting ankle lock, which targets the knee?

  • 28 bones in the foot to be exact

  • thnx ! I love the quick videos for a quick flavour but i prefer watching a 10-15 min fully-detailed video on a break down of ONE single technique... so if you could please upload such ...

  • I've been a big fan for years... I really like the switch from a leglock to taking the guy down. Great job "as" always.

  • i've always been taught not to use the forearm but rather the little boney knob a couple of inches down from the thumb when applying the achilles, do you finish people with both?

  • As long as it's the 'sharp part' of the forearm turned in, that should finish it just as well (that's how I was shown).

  • Great stuff! Really informative - no 1 mistake is the one I always do (now did) - and I could never finish properly! Can't wait to try it on the mat...!

  • very nice. if only i could pull this off at practice

  • Of course you can. Just start nice and easy, and then work up from there

  • @StephanKesting I know that if the lock is applied properly they wont be able to. But whats the plan if they grab your ankle in a equally botched attempt? You saw it alot in early UFCs & sometimes bluebelts will squabble over real estate! Do you fight out the lock or bend your knee (shorten the lever) & try something else like trying to mount on top or punches etc? Would it be possible to move to a kneebar?

I'd rather sound stupid asking then be stupid & waste my time trying to make it work.

  • @StephanKesting Can you teach me the gay ankle lock?

  • @StephanKesting would you agree that a totally messed up household is just no base for jiu jitsu in the first place?

  • @themondoshow this is the sub I actully tap most people with

  • @themondoshow i cant do it either man lol

  • @themondoshow Oh dude, you should look back at this vid. Kesting meant to send you a reply message but he didn't press reply so I don't think you got it.

  • @olamprov lol i just realized he did reply hahah thankyou sir

  • @themondoshow aight no problem. Sorry about that.

  • Great, as always Mr. Kesting.

  • nice
