  • i have a 95 v6 sport and im having problems taking out the alternator, however it has two mounts in the bottom. ive taken out one mount but the other im not too sure how to remove, any tips?

  • @tijuanacrew I haven't worked on that engine before, so I can't answer your question. Try the jeep forums.

  • I used this video to swap out an alternator for a 98 TJ in a hotel parking lot. yes its only a video but this video made the process easy with good video and instructions.

  • thanks first jeep needed a hand great tutorial well explained now i just need to find out why my jeep has the motor rattle sound after i changed the oil

  • I love the narration. REMOVE THE BOLT LIKE SO. lol

  • @FLIRTINalbertan Yeah, ScottC was so stupid that he needed me to dumb it down for him. Still pisses me off!!

I like your name BTW. It's awesome!

  • THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR PUTING THIS UP !!!!!!CAUSE IT SAVED ME A LOT OF TIME TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT !!!! I"V NEVER WORKED ON A 1993 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4.0 BEFORE NOW SO THANKS!!!!!!

  • I'm trying to install a new alternator in my Jeep Grand Cherokee right now, however the new alternator (purchased from Autozone) does not want to slide back into place where to top bolt goes through. Is there a trick to getting that in there, or am I doing something wrong? Should it really be such a struggle?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

  • @paradigm619 hey, I PM'd you with my celly. call me. They sold you the wrong part.

  • @happyfunspot Umm lol hopefully you got it sorted the piece of shit duralast alternator doesnt work for jeeps i went to Kragen/Orielly and picked up a ultima and it bolten right it.

  • @bigdog813 lol I agree...autozone sells junk right out of the box. Their duralast batteries are DuraCrap!

  • @happyfunspot Hey what is your voltage i got sound system and idk why my voltage is a little low it was always at 14v but know its always around 13.5-13.8ish

  • @bigdog813 After changing my alternator, the voltage DID improve, but not much. You may not believe this, but the meter in my dash reads 14V when the weather is cold, and around 13 - 13.8V when it's warm outside. I changed the battery temp sensor last night and it didn't help. It's an external regulator, but unfortunately, it's inside the ECM... $800 flashed and installed. Sometimes these can be a faulty ground, so I'll let you know what I find.

  • @happyfunspot So how is the readings? I got a brand new battery and mine are still at 13.8

  • @bigdog813 mine is about 13.5-13.8 with a new battery. The temperature is making a difference now that it's warming up outside, but the battery is holding the charge so I'm not going to sweat it. I read on a forum somewhere that anything over 13v is charging. It may be more of an issue if you are running audio. There has to be a lot more Jeep drivers out there with the same issue.

  • @happyfunspot I am having this exact same problem. Got mine from O'Reileys and can't get the new to set back in there

  • @Jennybear2003 that's where I got mine. There are two alternators. One is the standard amperage and one is the extra output. They both should fit, but I only have experience with the standard one. You may double-check to see if they didn't sell you the wrong one. Like for the V8 or something.

  • @Jennybear2003 So, did you fix your Jeep?

  • Thanks a lot for posting this man, it was definately a time saver rather than me out in my yard swearing at the top of my lungs trying to figure it out ! LOL
