so much freaking respect for our men and women in uniform. putting themselves through hell, and killing of portions of themselves every time they have to shoot and kill someone else, just so the rest of us don't have to.. words cannot describe how much pride i have in them... i'm 25 and i can only dream and wish that i had HALF the amount of courage that these people have.

@Pvtduck Thank you, that means a lot. The greatest thing a civillian can do for a soldier is thank them. There is no greater feeling than having a random stranger walk up to you and thank you for serving.

The CF is currently back logged with applications and there is very little space in any trade. With the last pay raise the CF is one of the highest paid military in the world, (Sgt. can make $76,000 a year) and thats another reason so many people are now applying and so few leaving.

I see all these kids saying " oh 1 more week and I'm 16 I can't wait to join" dear god don't join till your atleast 18 I joined when I was 17 And it put alot of stress on me my family and long time gf just wait and enjoy life, even more so if your wanting to go to infantry which the army closed cause so many people joined

My brother is in the Canadian Forces (Reg Force) and just gotback from Afghanistan, And my cousin is in the Special Forces (JTF2) He is going on his 5th tour of duty in Afghanistan. I can't wait till im 16 only one more year

The smartest thing you can do is finish your grade 12. The CF values education, because educated soldiers are good soldiers.

@shipsthatsink nm really get into a military co op i go tin its amazing you get paid well and learn alot of info and get 4 school credits thats your best bet then go reg force after if you want

You need to complete grade 10, be a Canadian citizen and be 16 to join the reserves.

You need to be clean of drugs. And meet the height-weight requirement.

I highly reccomend preparing before joining. Push-ups, sit-ups, running and marching with a back pack (30 pounds to start with and work your way up to 50 or 60).

Eat carbohydrates and drink lots of water.

If you dont meet the height-weight requirement beer will help gain weight. But your only 16 so I dont suggest it ;)

If you are looking into the forces. Get your Grade 10 Advanced math. It will open almost every job for you. Well depending on your CFAT.

Sign up it's the best thing youll ever do, i was sworn in september 2nd and ive already gotten onto a course and received my uniform it's awesome it makes you feel proud.

being in the reserves do you have to live at where ever the training is or.. can you have your own apartment or house in the same city as where your unit is kinda thing..? like i kno u can still have a city job n stuff but where do you live and do you still get to do your own kinda thing.. i dno if i made much sense lol

You Do your course where ever they tell you to do it, but its usually located the closest to you. And you can have your own apartment or live with your parents its completely up to you, and yep you can own an apartment or house in the same city or far from the unit its completely up to you and you can still have a job and do your own thing. The reserves is mainly made for students and people who have full time jobs. Almost our entire platoon are students and people with full time jobs.

Np man just make sure you choose what works best for you. and you can still join at the age of 16 you just need a parents permission then you're set.

you have to have completed secondary 3 with atleast 24 credits and nope all you need is secondary 3 but completing everything is always better.

to be in the army you have to get your grade 10 atleast but its better if you get your diploma so i would stay in school till than but i think you can join the reserves while your in highschool

Hey, i know im not him, but i thought id give you the idea. I'm in the testing process with friends already in it. the G-Wagon armour is decent but now the CF is starting to buy the NYALA which can with stand IED attacks much better

Mathius99 - the reason us canadian forces didnt get the hummers is because there 5x the cost and were already in a resession, not only that unlike our american allies we dont always pluge our country into a great deal of debt .

Ill correct you....my dad works at ottawa and hes in charge of new armour projects (what they are buying) and he said the the hummer was a useless trucks and that the top roof of the trucks was not armoured and bullets could go trough and that it was a truck that would always break.....
