Maybe microsoft, Sony and Nintendo should do this with controllers too. Buy a controller without entering the "new" code and the buttons stick and left direction doesn't work :)

that means that when the retailer stocks the game the publisher and developer get their money, the money you pay is a recoup for the retailer to buy more games to restock their shelves. used games sales does not hurt the publisher or developer.
These retailers and us are what made them (ea or other publisher) what they are today..

I bought red dead redemption for $64 new from Hong Kong and it sells new in Australia for 108. Now i know its not a EA game but games in Australia cost heaps so i support buying used or from Hong Kong

Well EA havent really made anything good recently that would be worth buying brand new :S i just wont buy anythin from them. There games usually come out full price and then a week or 2 later theres DLC to pay 4 aswell.....overall the game ends up costing alot more than what u think lol

This is funny...but buying used isn't bad news. First of all it's usually cheaper. For example at gamestop if you have a special card you get a 10% discount on used games. Second of all, this "online pass" shit with ea is going too far. It's just a ploy to bring in more money and i sure as hell hope other companies don't go the same way. I get that this was meant to be funny, but I can't tell if it's a joke on the publishers, or actually supporting them.
In the sense that if this was to support them, fuck that. Big name gaming corporations don't give two shits about their consumers, and are only out for the money. You can tell from their customer support that they don't give a rat's ass, also in that a lot of the games they throw out there are poor quality.

The only thing i don't get is if u buy a game that's a few years old they might not have a new copy so u pay even more for online fees because a store isn't being shipped new copies anymore

Well EA havent really made anything good recently that would be worth buying brand new :S i just wont buy anythin from them. There games usually come out full price and then a week or 2 later theres DLC to pay 4 aswell.....overall the game ends up costing alot more than what u think lol

im just going to put up my ps3 for awhile and go last gen/pc gaming except for good ps3 games that get cheap in the next two years. next generation games are good and all but i cant keep waiting 3-4 months to buy a new game i want that will most likely roll credits within 15 hours for 60$ when i can get used last gen/cheap pc games every week for about 10-15 bucks. also fuck EA they screwed up the bc2 servers so they glitch and lag like hell all of a sudden.

EA's a money hungry, maniac, bully, that buys up IP's like they were their 3rd wives tampons at the supermart, and does piss poor jobs of creating those IP's into games. But that's not to say that there aren't any other publishers that are SUE HAPPY and try to decimate each other's companies, because some asshole C E O didn't get their christmas bonus! This is funny...but buying used isn't bad news. First of all it's usually cheaper. For example at gamestop if you have a special card you get a 10% discount on used games. Second of all, this "online pass" shit with ea is going too far. It's just a ploy to bring in more money and i sure as hell hope other companies don't go the same way. But with the video game industry the way it is, other companies will follow.

@gettta in the future they will sell you a shitty mod of the last game you bought for 70$. it will only have one map. if you pre-buy you can get an exclusive in game dildo that hangs from your ass. oh yea it will play like an alpha version so you will randomly fall through the ground to your death, and you will pay to play on a listen server with 150 ping. but dont worry for 10$ extra you can host.

EA is eventually going to find a way to make you pay for a game two or three times after an initial purchase. This is why digital distribution is going to crash the video game industry in the future. @cptroger Totally agree We use to pay alot less for games and slowly they grow in costs and they expect us not to bye used, and now were in a bit of a financial problem atm and they continue to add and add to the costs with this new pass crap.
