Open Source, means its free to all users to contribute and tweak things. Which is why you can make some features on the Google to be like the iPhone. Same for Mozilla on how you can make it have IE like features.

I seriously doubt they will make the g2 look good this time around. I dont think those screen shots accurately depict what it will look like. All the other screen shots Ive seen look different. its actually already released in Europe and its called the HTC MACIC- look it up, u prbbly will anyways

Its not a rumor. It was supposed to be released at the end of Jan 09, but due to system problems they pushed the release date to April. I have read the articles on this and also confirmed with T-Mobile. However, who ever is posting the G2 as a slider is WRONG! It is not a slider phone, it is complete touch with a screen qwerty.

as far as i know the G2 is the HTC Magic which was released for vodafone which also runs android but correct me if im wrong

There are some other carriers that will have the G2 phone but known by a different name as the G1, G2 and G3 brand is owned by T-Mobile. So, it would not surprise me if HTC Magic is indeed the G2.

hmm...you don't seem to get it now do you? G2 is trademarked with T-Moblie...and that would be the actual name of their phone. However, T-Mobile is making the G2 available through different carriers under a separate Name as legally T-mobile owns the name G2. But here it June 2009 and the phone still have not been released...will it ever?

As far as I know, and this was told to me by the sales rep for T-Mobile and also what I have read and seen, that there will not be a keyboard, but a touch scree qwerty.
