  • Hey ver nice "making of" and Movie! I really lieked it. Im 16 years old and ver intetrested in movie making and I think I learned something. IM doing some stuff in C4D but now im thinking about trying out Blender. Thanks!

  • i cant understand anything the first guy says. i was only to pick out "concept art and concept artists"

  • The only flaw with the film was the fact it was so depressing.

    'Scales! Scaaleeess!'

At least when I finished reading Metro 2033 I could feel enlightened from the experience instead of wanting to cry myself to sleep.

  • Thank you soo much for blender I hope you guys are having a great time there. You guys helped people around the world create their own animations.

  • Maya Rules :D

  • I coud not make out what the unshaved guy said at all but still thanks for creating such a good project. It would have had a great impact if instead of that movie they hag made an amazing game with blender!

  • Could I just point out the "first guy" is Ton Roosendaal, the man behind Blender and the reason it is still going strong and open source today.

  • i made a cube in blender...

  • u guys are the best Idk where did those 6 dislikes came from maybe from a 3d software modeling with a payment system ...

  • very nice

  • 9:35 :D

  • wow Colin has huge eyes!!

  • If anybody has seen Young Frankenstein, the project lead on this totally reminds me of the inspector in that movie.

  • It's really impressive to see the effort that went into making the movie...and what also kept me watching this video was the facial hair of the team. It's, fascinating :-). Great work guys.

  • I couldn't understand a freaking word that dude was saying. I just kept getting reminded of that dude in the beer advert "Shtop! Thish Blender movie ish not ready yet!"

  • 53:03

The guy is going :D the entire time (bottom right desk)

    lulwut?

  • @planetNS I'm under the impression he knew when the camera took a shot so he went like :D at the right times lol

  • @X3SB xD I can only imagine what his colleagues were thinking...

  • que chidos esos diseños d2

  • Blender kick ass on texturing!

  • the beginning is just like fable

  • WTF is the first guy saying? I can't make a word out of it!

  • @ShadeAKAhayate Recipe for win: go to 0:37 when the dude starts speaking. Turn on audio transcription to english. Win.

  • @dhhs91 A win indeed.

  • I could say a lot of things, but just... thanks a lot! For making the movie and this documentary.

  • kool

  • hi

  • 8:50

    What?

  • *58:26* man,i do NOT feel like moving

  • Man this is so great ! Incredible piece of work !

  • Lol lighting dude xD bur seriously great vid really inspiring to watch the process of creating a 3d animation film

  • Thank you so much for the free video of such excellent quality. I appreciate the work and the movie. Please know that I am one of those who would not have known or been able to see it without YouTube. Again, with much appreciation for your hard work, thank you so much.

  • man...i'd pay like 2$ for these guys to make tutorial videos...

  • Colin looks like...looks like...It's on the tip of my tongue...

  • Awesome. I this video is very informative, I would love to take part in something like this.

  • Awesome.

  • Funny, the making of video is longer than the film it's self!

  • @TheScienceiscool The writing of a book takes longer than one can read it.

  • @andrew1421l WOW took me a while to find your message! Very good point!

  • @TheScienceiscool

and also developing a game takes much longer than playing it.

I finished MW 3 within 8 to 9 hours but the developing time as I heard took around 1 year. probably they might use already made classes but still it's quite a big.

  • Follow mango.blender.org if you want to know what it takes to create a shortfilm. Don't underestimate it. Creating a game like MW3 is not hard, it's getting the right advertising etc that's hard. MW3 is not complex.. Some games load 41 km^2 dynamically and you can walk across mountains etc, all fully free.. The hard thing about games is implementing choice (not OPTIONS, choice) in a way it feels natural. Most shooters suck badly at this.

  • Now you know this is about harmony, its not about one guy with the most skills and does only his part. Artists, techs, students, professionals, veterans, graduates, assistants got to commit as a team, to show great work.

  • sintel is amazing! loved it!

  • 22:40 "and that is why we created the role of this*stutters* shit.. *of the shaman" LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL ROFL LAWLZ thumbs up so others can see. ROFL 31:42 drinking booze... no wonder none of these ppl make sense when they talk :| i didnt understand him the entire first minute... now i know why. 33:10 "Just make one BITC(H)URE" 51:42 "Add b*ondage to the sleeping scene" thumbs up so others can see lol

  • ubuntu+blender = bugs... i used ubuntu and i ended up forgetting about Fuckubuntu,.... look at all the time they spent in the terminal fixing bugs fuck that... MS Windows 7 +Blender= bugs and fixing bugs with out hacking and slashing through terminals lol

  • @True2TheBlueYoViGang ??? They used terminal for tracking the bugs. You should have known that if you have been fixing bugs for Blender (which you pretend you've done). Besides that, it's actually the case that the Blender for Linux is a lot more stable than the Blender version for (Win)dows.

  • @Sverro2 bullshit... im no fanboy of any OS but i know ubuntu crashes its shit and when it updates it ruins alot of good programs that worked prior... fuck ubuntu. anytime windows fucks up a program another update quickly fixes it... total bullshit. Ubuntu is a waste of time its a nice OS with beuatiful visual features(im talking abt compiz) but its ass in terms of getting shit done and performance. Ubuntu's slogans are hypocritical. It makes a great secondary os on an older pc but not reliable.

  • @True2TheBlueYoViGang I do have other findings about Linux and Windows, but I can understand your problem. Especially when you hardware is not very wel supported by Linux. I do agree though about the hypocritical slogans :)

  • @Sverro2 nah my hardware was supported... it just the type of OS that commits suicide for no reason at times and certain decisions u make on it will total ur os and nuke ur work at a click's notice without warning poof. Even if ur pro and know what ur doing any day usingit can be ur last. I got so pissed when using it that i cut off the updates once it reached a stable update and kept it out of date. Programs like LMMS got broken after a certain version of ubuntu but its windows equivalent works

  • this colin levy looks like an Elf xD. anyway, GREAT movie...

  • Sintel was AMAZING!

  • Also i must add this animation is Hollywood quality,or more than that. And last word,THE MAN SPEAKS ENGLISH THERE,I DON'T KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH THOSE WHO ARE TRYING TO MAKE FUN OF THAT,OR WHATEVER THEIR PURPOSE.I LIVE IN TURKEY,AND MY MAIN LANGUAGE IS NOT ENGLISH BUT I UNDERSTAND HIS EVERYWORD,PLEASE JUST TRY TO BE MORE KIND...love from Turkey, and respect...

  • (sorry out of character from my previous msg)... and all emotionswas very well tuned and made, and final compositing is really, realy good.I haven't used blender before,I am using 3ds max,and have an interest in maya as well, but when i see your project,i just can't stay away from blender anymore. It just a woooowwww, this is extremely hot,and those guys made it with blender.I have a big respect of you have done, and hoping to be one of you in one day, very very jealous about it :)))

  • Hello guys,I loved the whole project and your spirit to make it happen.greetingz for great efford. In everystep of the workflow i really know it is very very hard to achieve what you are trying to have as a final product, and it is sometimes making you insane about not knowing where you are going to,or what mostly concerns that the people will love it or not.The models, concepts, animation, rigging, matte paintings, sound editing, knowledge of scene directory, hair simulation, facial expressions....

  • To everyone saying it needs subtitles you need to know that it is in English. Kinda hard to understand Ton but its still English and can understand if u pay attention real good to each word:)

  • You Guys Are Awesome

    I am A Blender Fan

  • Ton, Learn to talk english... Really awesome that dutch people made this! keep it up!!

Make a full movie of this story man! Jullie zijn te gek!

    I believe in Blender

want to convert and use for my projects etc...

  • Guys, even for someone who speaks several languages and is familiar with many accents, subtitles are not a luxury here for some of the speakers... (love the work, just can't understand some of the comments)

  • I really need help with Blender I don't know anything!

  • @Sii010 I've just started working with Blender myself. There's a ton of help out there in tutorials and forums. Mostly I've been going through the "learning units 1-10" and trying to copy some other things I've seen.

  • guy at 1:26 has pretty eyes....they all talented and cute not an easy combo to find :3

  • I can't wait for the next open movie project comes out!

  • Kan someone tell me do I need to install python to run this program Windows xp. P.S Awsome work dude!

  • @LaProfeVirtual You don't need Python to initially run Blender. You just need Python for the more advanced external scripts that use external Python libraries.

  • what is this composite flow-chart @50:36, is it some feature inside of Blender, or a 3rd party application? anyway, Sintel is just awesome and inspiring for amateur modelers and animators like!

  • @alternshot It's Blender's Node Compositor.

  • LOL at 21:22...

"You got no style, DUTCH! You know that?" ^_^

  • the accent of the first guy is amazing!! ha I want to listen to him all day..... :D

  • I love how the documentary is longer than the actual movie :P

  • @frozentoons XD Yeah!

  • @frozentoons 6 times longer

  • @frozentoons well it takes longer to make a film than watching it, so that makes sense... :)

  • i always found tons accent really funny

  • hey native speakers - subs plz...

  • Thanks Ton Roosendaal, for this wonderful program!!!!

  • First dislike, yaye, Anyway, great team and AWESOME results.

  • Wow, I really enjoyed seeing how it was all put together and seeing how much effort went into it made me appreciate the film even more. But I really would have liked to see something similar about the audio and music as well.

  • LOL last parts were funny haha! great Job guys and girls you all did extremely well I actually felt all the frustration even if it was very little I understand the hard time you all went through with the construction of Sintel but it all paid off and that's the main thing I personally extremely enjoyed the film and it has inspired me to one day do the same thing I've been working with blender for a year or two now but my progress is a little slow but seeing the work you guys did inspired me.

  • Brilliant documentary

  • 34:15 transcribe audio says "well who Iraq's long term social security"

    Forgive me Blender, forgive me!

  • T_T I finally understood the guy in the first minute so I decided to go back and relisten to the beginning... Still couldn't make heads nor tails of it. I think his English improved over the course of the project.

  • I want to work with you guys so much

  • Oh and great documentary :D

  • It would definitely be helpful to add subtitles for Roosendaal. It's intelligible, but sometimes you have to listen to it a few times over.

  • hey dude you could make it into many parts.like that i could watch it at a different time.it would be better.make like 4 to 3 parts of it,allowing more easiness of viewing ;)

  • Sir Ton really sounds like King Leonidas from 300 XD
