In this case, Paul was defending an ideology more than Mitt. Its just that Mitt happened to have a same policy on that ONE particular point. (which was the freedom of the free markets i think). I dont see anything wrong in that. I think it just proves the honesty of Paul. But it also might be an election strategy ;)

His veto threat was never on grounds that the bill contained heinous provisions. Glenn Greenwald has explained and documented this in detail.
