the double sided cards are just a repeat of the kamigawa mechanisms, theyre trying to make the game "flashy" and "appealing" to a wider crowd, meaning, a younger audience. No seasoned mtg player NEEDS change and additional flashyness to keep them interested, just broken cards that are good staples, change isnt always good. This is just them trying something that didnt work before, theyre simply just trying to pick up yugioh players and younger kids with this, flipcards arent strategic whatsoever

@AjemanCinnajob you have a good point and I agree with you about the double sided cards.

However the set is still having a lot of new cards.

I'm a seasoned player and the old sets (Mirage down) had very poor cards and bad mechanices. Banding (too confusing and useless), Ramapge (weak), (Phasing) confusing but cool.

Not trying to rant or disapprove your point but I generally thing that the newer sets (after Tempest and moving forward) are better for pushing general themes and mechanices.

@AjemanCinnajob Storm is cool. we have a friend that use's brainstorm with 0 cost creatures and another artifiact (its from ravincia I forgot the name) THAT ALLOWS it to BE BOUNCE BACK TOO YOUR HAND.

we proceeded to kill him when he use's that deck every time now.

I like storm but wizards said it's a mechanic that's overpower (which it is) and won't be focusing on not bringing it back (but you never know),

@Wurmtung My thing about the double sided cards are how are they going to work in tournaments, seeing as in most tournaments you have to have your cards sleeved with non-clear sleeves? I mean sure you could pull the card out of the sleeve, flip it, then place it back, but that is just an unnecessary extra step. However, I do have they say I am extremely excited about this set, especially due to the Werewolves tribe

I have to say I understand the wish to let werewolfes transform just like the'll do but it seems in all those other colors it's not neccessary... the testsubject (lizard) could have been done without it, the bat/vampire as well and probably all non-werewolfes as well.

Not talking abour draft: I like it more than flip cards... a lot of text small pictures I rather look at those. Probably annoying though flipping them every second turn :/

We just HAD a horror set. Did MaRo read the New Phyrexia flavor text? The Phyrexians committed genocide on Mirroden. That's horror.

Also, it's going to be hard to make Werewolves a tribe. There are dozens of Vampire and Zombie cards already. Unless they print a ton of werewolves in Innistrad it's going to be hard to match the numbers and diversity the other tribes have. I doubt there's even ONE werewolf that's legal in standard now, outside Innistrad.

@WUZLE Dude, the set JUST got spoiled. They haven't shown us all of the Werewolves yet. Plus NPH wasn't a horror set. yes, there were some horror elements to it, but when Mark says Innestrad is a horror set, he's saying that's the main point of the set, whereas NPH's focus was the Phyrexians winning that war against the Mirrans.

IT IS ANNOYING!! You either need a sleeve or a checklist card that replaces it in your deck.

Also it sucks for drafts.

And as to drafting... You -do- know that you don't have to spread the entire pack out like a fan to pick your cards, right? If you want to hide the fact that you're taking transform stuff, it isn't terribly hard.

Plus, Transform doesn't look (so far) like it's showing up in heavy draft amounts.

My 'favorite' thing about the double-sided cards in draft is that in the rules, Wizards said that (and I'm paraphrasing here) "you may use any methods to cover-up the double-sided card" So, I could wear a giant cape, if I wanted to!

@LKfan1234 How is that a bad thing? When I'm drafting, I would love to be able to shout "I took a green card, stay out of green," but the rules prevent it. This mechanic actually adds a great deal of strategy to a draft, since you are allowed to keep the card hidden if you wish. You get to decide whether your opponents know what you took.
