  • I'm from Silverton, I know Stu personally.... this is just how he dresses all the time.

  • Any woman dress that way for an event, would have received very harsh comentaries, I am sure everybody knows its true!!!

  • I saw Stu's photo when he was a man in the 90s, and honestly he looks better as a women. The conservative old boys' club in Silverton is just jealous that they are getting old, fat, and bald.

  • If you people are stupid enough to vote that thing into office you deserve everything you get. Children are always the targets for this variety. What did you expect?

  • I think that people just need to understand that he/she is in the better interest of the community residing in the town of Silverton. So who really cares how he/she dresses, clothes do not make the person. I think that all the homophobes need to calm down..he is not trying to sneak up behind you fellows...Just let this person live their life how they see fit (not you) and let he/she do their job:) mini skirt or not.

  • I live in Silverton, Stu is an amazing mayor. what he wears, whether he has boobs, that shouldn't matter at all. I think people should worry about the real issues not what he looks like.

  • He's cool. But he should go out in feminine busyness suite too. It's very nice, both retailed and custom tailored.

With him not being pulled off to a side and explained the situation, maybe was playing safe, cuz no one wanted to get a reaction of attempting to put ANY dress code on a trans-minded individual, as it's quite sensitive subject to talk about. And the reaction can be severely defensive, such as a law suit.

Bottom line. You want to wear clothes of your preference, do it responsibly.

  • i dont understand how he managed to get hormone treatment and or breast augmentation if he identifies as a male, in my country to be eligible for any kind of treatment you must identify as a woman or man if your ftm

  • Nice but he should watch what he wears in public

  • I live in silverton and I think stu is awesome and he is sooo mice but

  • You guys need to grow up and actually meet him hes a really awesome guy and is a good major. you guys are just immature. you dont even know him!! im from silverton and i love this town.

  • very much agreed

  • yeah Stu's view that the rules don't apply to him (only say him because that's how he identifies) but that view just clearly is antagonistic in my view

  • #1. you really need to get to your point. Just when I think you were finally about to say something interesting, you fade to black.

#3. When young, I identified myself as a 'rocker chick' and wore concert shirts w/ ripped Jeans and a leather jacket. If I had shown up at my mall job in my 'check out my ass' skin tight jeans, I would have been sent home.

#4. Why does he think he gets special treatment bc he is TG? Can't he just go buy himself a nice ladies suit?

  • Oops, got my numbering off. My points still stay the same though.

  • Silvertons poulation is 9500. i live in silverton.. you do not have your facts right..

  • well sorry about that there is something much more important than the population

  • There are more people in my neighborhood than the entire city of Silverton.. lol

  • Hey bia I watched all 10:58 seconds of this vid and luvvved it- prob the better thing about longer videos is that you can prob issues deeper - wait a minute did I say probe?

  • This is only the second time I heard about this incident and now I see what he wore.

I must say that I do not consider the skirt a mini skirt, it is too long for that. However it is barely appropriate for a dress code I think. The top IS NOT appropriate.

Pulling the trans card was wrong. The key may be "presenting yourself to the best of your ability"

On the other hand, it is summertime, people are probably sick of hearing about healthcare reform so this makes for a nice diversion.

  • It was a VERY inappropriate outfit. I don't feel Rasmussen is in the right on this. I think this IS reflecting negatively on transsexuals - saying the dress code doesn't apply to him? Please. OF THE SAME ACCORD, I do think they're making too big a deal of the issue.

  • I do also think the media is making too much out of it which we knew they would and well this should have been expected by Stu also

  • right on

  • But maybe he should have worn a dress or nice outfit the fits in the dress code. So anyone dressed like that would have been wrong. He might be pulling the trans card thinking that people would over look his violating the dress code.

  • there is no issue with him dressing as a woman, it was the choice of what he wore which violated dress code for either gender. he is saying that the dress code does not apply to him because he is neither male or female

  • I know. That is why I said maybe he should have worn something that was ok for the dress code.

  • not practice the same code specific presentation rules that you, or i would if we were in business or town leadership positions ....i dont fault Stu for being a free spirit ( and he certainly is that) but i do wish he would conform to some sense of business and leadership etiquette, i mean alot of people dont like Sarah Palin, but ya gotta admit she doesnt give speeches lookin like a chick down at the local bar on friday night trying to catch some cock....Stu does!! ((huggs/love))

  • very well said for sure thanks for your input on this, I always love reading your comments

  • way of presenting....and has for years now had a running fight trying to get local ordinances changed to suit his ways of lifestyle.....i've been folowing this for a couple of years now, and it is quite ridiculous on Stu's part...there have been many film crews going up to silverton to cover the story and it is odd to see all the other women on the council dressed in business appropriate clothes , and Stu with his rack almost hanging out and a next to nothing skirt he is simply defiant and will

  • Wow 777 so serious here! Well I am going to just fade to black now......

  • silverton is 7,400.. not 74,000 hon....its a dinky little town about 6,or7 hour drive north of here....Stu has been cited not once, not twice, but numerous times for violating silverton city council dress code....Stu has been violating dress and some city civil codes in respect to his businesses he owns, for several years now on a regular basis ....people have many times pulled him aside and asked him to conform to some traditions of city business, he seems to believe in a kind of risque ,sexy

  • Very well spoken. In some ways you can say he's setting the movement backwards.

  • Thank you and that's exactly how I feel

  • Stu is wrong about this and his comment that he wasn't Male or Female so neither applies to him is just antagonistic. I don't even know if I would classify him as transgender at least not in the traditional sense. I agree it doesn't reflect positively on the trans community. I think this was his attempt to get pub for hisor a "reality" show. It will be forgotten soon though probably

  • yeah there has been talk about him getting a reality show

  • I think he isn't prepared to identify himself as either, and that is his right to do so.

It takes a person some time after coming out to determine where they feel comfortable on the gender scale. He has a right to say he isn't sure yet.

  • I am upset about this Stu thing, he had an opportunity to shed a respectful light on the transgendered community, instead he has further made us out to be a joke.

I was so pleased to hear that he was elected as mayor, being out as transgendered.

I think he should have considered how much he hurt us who are working so hard to earn the respect of the public. :(

My family is only starting to get to understand me, now I have to deal with them criticizing what I wear because of this.

  • I was right there with you, and to be honest this really does hurt even a bit on a personal level

  • You are so level headed, I appreciate the way you argued your case. I wish you were closer, I'd love to take you out. You seem to be the type of person who would make a terrific friend.

    Tori. :)

  • Aww thank you so much. How are you doing by the way, I haven't seen a video by you since your coming out letter. Hows things going with your transition?

  • Doing pretty well. I'm fully out and dressing female full time now. Wife and I seperated but remain close friends. My kids are very supportive and happy.

It hasn't been easy, but things have started to settle down. I've gotten past the pity, "why me" stage and I'm now just trying to enjoy life as myself.

I posted your video on my facebook page to share with my friends and family. And if you wanna friend me on Facebook, I'm Tori Leigh Rhoades. :)

  • The problem is he has not tried to counter the forced representation that he has been subjected to, but I agree with you about my gender and my sexuality are two different things.

  • no mater who we are, we are equal and he is so professional. ive been watching him over the years and im on his side but when your a professional, you must be dressing property...like where i work and so on.

  • I think he has done a great job and that's not what I have an issue with. It just so frustrates me

  • loved it..great vidja

  • There is nothing wrong with challenging social norms, but it's when and how you choose to do so.
